Man, I thought the comments section on the MLS site were bad. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.
Doubt we'd be jerking him around with practice after his trial if he wasn't going to be signed.

I'm gutted. And it seems you're now stuck with a lot of crap players when you could have had a gem.
Seems as if all roads lead to Gooch although I wouldn't completely close the door on Tefu there is still time for some player movement

I can appreciate the team seeking to avoid cutting players outright. When the team is gelling you don't want to introduce that expendable mindset into the locker room.
Let's hope loans can still be made and Garber's arm can still be twisted.

Is there a max to be had on international spots? It'd seem odd to be able to trade for as many as you could possibly want.
They said we tried to get allocation money to get around the cap issue. Which tells me that unfortunately we're finally out of allocation money.

I'm not sure that's the case. It was his agent saying "trying to secure funds from the league." He probably just doesn't understand the rules. I imagine this is more of an international spot not being available.
If it's a salary cap issue, there are no salary cap issues with allocation money. You can use it to increase the cap.
I'm sure an intl spot was an issue, but I can't anticipate that was the only issue.

One other thing - not to be a cynical SOB, but it's entirely possible that the club were only going to take one CB, chose Mena over Tefu, and this is spin control.
