Nycfc V Galaxy - Postgame & Player Ratings

We need 2 strikers up front. Villa cant play lone striker.

This also. Not necessarily Kreis's fault though that Shelton has been injured and Nemec is a bust. Assuming Nemec is gone next year, I definitely think there will be a better second option at striker.

After this loss, how would everyone feel about letting the "kids" play?

Play the diamond. Let Villa and Mullins play up top. Let Poku roam underneath them. Let Mena play with Facey and see if they can develop a partnership. None of us are sold on Saunders. Let Johannsen play. Pirlo plays at the base because he has to. Diskerud and McNamara wide.

I wish I could like this 100 times.

Could've been 10-0

I though we played beautiful ball at the start. A

A couple points, some have been said.

Villa is a ball hog, would rather go 1v3 than pass, led a chorus of whining that lead to the first goal...but he doesnt have a choice cause every one else is ball watching and there's nobody making runs into the box.

Everyone that's been calling for Mix to play offensive, can you stop. That's not his game. It never was. Let him run wild and be Pirlo's partner.

Speaking of Pirlo's partner...what the fuck with AJ. Is he an attacking mid now? Jesus Christ. He plays so far up top it boggles my freaking mind. So we have Pirlo and 2 CBs left to defend. You see Iraola and Angelino can't even attack. They have to hold up cause there's nobody back there. I was an AJ supporter mostly for his hustle...but he has taken on the Grabavoy role. He is fucking this team up

We need speed bad. We hardly have any.

Idk anymore. We don't have any strikers. I like Mullins, thought he was showing progress then went into the Kreisness Protection Program.

Like men vs boys today.

But hey, we're an expansion team...right?

Villa plays on an island while the other 9 guys stay behind the ball and get 5 scored on them. He's 100% right. He's usually attacking by himself with a huge gap behind him.

This!

I took a few hours off after the game before I came here to read and/or post.

Todays game hurts, of course it does. But I think we need to be ojective and co tinue to look at the bigger picture. I agree with many and disagree with a few folks in the posts today.

1. I am disappointed in the effort, how some gave up and just the team overall today. Having said that we played the best team in the league with probably the best coach in the league.

2. Lampards absence has hurt the team. I won't attack the guy because I can only evaulate him once he is fit. But yes, there is no return as of yet on the investment and it hurts the squad.

3. Jason Kreiss make not be the manager for a big city with big expectations like NY. He is inconsistent with his decisions and tactics. NY is not Utah.

4. Mena and Facey have to start every game. Thats the only way they'll learn to play off and with each other.

5. Angelino is a defensive liability and his offensive runs just atent consistent enough and have not developed a partnership with anybody yet.

6. I have so much respect for what Villa and Pirlo are showing me that its quite silly to see some comments. Pirlo was not signed to defend, he has been efficient in his position. Villa is an emotional leader and he needs to start getting in everyones face to give as much effort as him.

7. We need to give other goalies a try.

8. If nycfc does not make the playoffs i will be disappointed but is it the end of the world for me to curse and call them all garbage. Absolutely not, this team is in construction and pieces coming in so late did not help. I am excited because my city has a soccer team for the rest of my life. I will be there for every game. I am excited because i know cfg made an investment and if it doesnt work they will reevaluate and try again. There are a lot of players underperforming and others sinply adjusting. Too many folks are acting like they expected a championship. I am a believer that this league continues to get better and you just cant get three stars and come in and get to the playoffs. Just not that easy anymore.

Lets support this team next home game and show them that we want max effort and we will have their backs.

Good night guys and go Nycfc!

Starting to think that Mix is gone

If we get rid of Mix but keep Lampard (a player whose best position with the team is currently occupied by a 23 year old stud who is insanely cheap for his production and doesn't take up an international spot) then it says one of two things about our management. 1. This is more about marketing stars and less about trying to actually win in the short term. 2. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

I'm not saying Mix has been great or even that he's earned his salary so far, but if we're looking to get rid of players who earn more than their production is worth, Lampard, Nemec, Grabavoy, Wingert, and Jacobson at minimum should precede Mix on the list.

I know we would lose. But I don't know what's more surprising: That we would lose that bad or that Jon Steward would turn heel and hit John Cena with a steel chair.

agreed. So far the only three players who stand out are poku, villa, and pirlo. Each with limititation because the situations they are stuck with. For example, many would accuse Villa ball hogging or Pirlo deficient in defense, but we know villa has no better choice as no one make the right runs to allow good distribution from him. Pirlo so far has been everything we expected. Brilliant passes, no speed or defense. But if we have a good CDM who can stay behind and lock things down, Pirlo would register at least 1 or 2 assist per game. It goes on and on. The team construction, the subs, game management, and attention to details are just totally lacking. It is mature to lose our first goal today. This NYCFC is beginning to remind me of Jets. I am so frustratedright now. I expected a loss, buttoning down without a proper fight is without dignity. This is is on Kries first and foremost. We need a whole new team next season

Warning drank my face off after this. Read all the comments and didn't see anything about this. I hope I dont get banned for this. fuck Frank lampard for being our first signing. Fuck all the Chelsea and Manchester city fans that come hear and lecture me about how much of a class talent and class act he is. Fuck every perfectly politically correct interview he gives that makes people love him. He talks like a dirty politician and says all the right things about being excited about coming here and building something (unless something better comes along). Fuck Frank for not telling man city, thanks but I told a whole city I was excited to build something and I'm a man of my word so I want to go now and follow through. Everyone bitches about cfg but no one blames Frank. Everyone questions villa but no one remembers that he signed second under the assumption Frank would be here from day one. Then when frank decided he was too good for us villa has stepped up in every possible way. What would have happened today if Frank had been here from day one, like he said he would be? Why does everyone blame cfg while never questioning why Frank didn't say no I would love to stay at mc but I'm excited about what they are building in NYC and I want to go because I told them I would be there from day one. I could care less about cfg I'm an arsenal fan. So why do people spend hours being mad at cfg and never we question Frank?

If your kid has been to 500 of the best birthday parties ever and then some new kid moves to town and you're kid tells everyone that the kid's b-day party is going to be great and he can't wait for it and Then a few weeks later a popular kid invites him to a party on the same day. Do you say that's okay son you should go to the cooler party even though you are too old for that party, have been to 100s of them and told everyone you were going to the other kid's party? Of course not you tell your kid to keep his word and do what he said he would do. So why do we spend 100000s of hours debating cfg and never question lampard? Why do people go on and on telling us we can't boo him because he did nothing wrong. I say fuck ff he could have come here whenever he wanted and he chose to go back on his word and come mid season.

Maybe I'm just pissed we are going to miss the playoffs but I truly believe that if Frank wanted to be here from day one he could have been, all he had to do was say so. So fuck him for no keeping his world.

I would just like to say that for those of you who hate on Mix, taking him out is disastrous. He has the best work rate of anyone on our team and is the only midfielder that attempts to get forward on counters. Seriously, how many times tonight did counters break down because Poku or Villa would start dribbling and then have no one coming to help after Mix was subbed out. Even with him in, not nearly enough of the team gets forward or gets in the box for crosses far too often.

I am not saying Mix is perfect because his form is definitely a little off right now for his standards(and playing out of position doesn't help), but you lose a player who covers a ton of space once you take him out and the team instantly becomes worse.

IMO.

Did people not realize what happened when Mix left the pitch tonight ? LOL

100% agree, his work rate I amazing. I would also like to know what other mls coach would take a regular usmnt starter and add spend the season fucking with his position, for nycfc Mix has started at cdm, cam, rm, lm, and st. How is that okay?
