The team should be hungry after that loss to LA. I don't care what anyone says we were not supposed to win that game. But knowing that, we WERE supposed to win @ Columbus and I found it unacceptable to play for a draw.

Game Date 08/29
Kick Off 4:00 PM

YES, WFAN, WADO

Two tickets in hand.

I'm a little deflated after the last two matches. The way the team performs on Saturday will speak to both the teams and managements character (hopefully positively with a win). Likewise, the attendance will also speak to the type of fans that we are. I hope to see a packed stadium with fans committed to pushing this team towards victory.

Few lineup questions that I am curious to hear what people prefer:

(1) Let's assume that the following will be in the lineup: Villa, Lampard, Poku, Pirlo and Jacobson. Who would you most like to see as the sixth: Mix, McNamara or Mullins?

(2) Who is your starting center back pairing?

I'd like to see Jacobsen not in the lineup. Provides very little defensive cover as a CDM.
I'd be willing to put Mix there as he seems to find himself having to provide cover all game anyway.
Two strikers. Villa/Poku with Lampard Pirlo Mix and McNamara in the mid.

Say what you will about Mena but I don't see us conceding those soft breakaway goals with him in.

I agree that I'd like to see the lineup without Jacobson and Mix playing that role. But I'd be very surprised if Kreiss goes that route, so I was curious to see what people thought if forced to choose among the three I named, which strikes me as a potentially likely choice assuming Lampard is healthy and that he doesn't bench Poku (too infuriating to think about!).

I think I still lean towards Hernandez/Facey, but wouldn't feel bad about Mena/Facey either.

I agree with you. I actually like Mena. He's very athletic and active. He had a couple unfortunate bounces but he will be good for this club.

I do. He's awful in transition. I like him a lot and hope he grows to be a very important part of our backline but as of right now... transition game is trash. If the attacker stops or he manages to stop them, then he's a beast at 1 vs 1.

Not sure if the club is holding back any tickets at this point, but if not, we are just a couple hundred away from a sellout.
Well, crap. Why couldn't you have said that *before* I put in my guess-the-attendance entry?

I'd almost say screw it and try to go all-out with the old Bob Bradley empty bucket formation:

-------------Villa -- Mullins
-------Lampard---------Poku
-----------Pirlo-----------Mix
Angelino-Facey-Mena-Iraola
-------------------Keeper

Angelino and Iraola are already responsible for trying to provide us tons of width going forward, so maybe playing without true width in the midfield wouldn't hurt us too badly. Plus, we aren't scoring many goals created down the wings anyway, we might as well try to play for our strengths.

Defensively, this is a lineup to outscore opponents.... that's about all I can say.

As a guy who has obsessed all season about ticket sales, I can tell you they do hold back tickets for one reason or another. It's happened quite often that I see the NOT MANY LEFT icon on Ticketmaster only to have it disappear a day later.

I guess they hold back sections for promotions, giveaways, possible ST sales, visitors, etc, then release them several days before game time.

If there were ever a get-back-on-the-horse game, this is it. For team and fans alike.

I like the empty bucket but I don't like Mullins in starting XI at this point. Poku belongs up there with Villa. Diamond behind them with Lamp, TMac, Mix Pirlo.

Mullins should be our offensive sub with Ballouchy after him. Defensively bring in your pick of AJ, Allen, God who the fuck knows who else.

But Mullins has played big for us as a sub all year and I don't see a reason to pull TMac. He's been strong for a while with a couple of subpar outings when the whole team was subpar. Leave him in for now and give the team a chance at some consistency. Especially if we are going to see a change in Lamp entering the lineup.

Win, lose, or tie...I really don't give a shit about this season anymore. Waiting for the offseason player changes. I'll still go nuts if Poku scores a goal though. POKU!!!
