2016 Jersey Thread

One thing I realized while watching Real Madrid play recently....Ronaldo runs exactly like TMac with his arms flying out high in front of hime.

The only difference is Ronaldo is crazy athletic, so it somewhat looks ok when he does it. TMac on the other hand (who I love) isn't as close to as athletic.
Now TMac will be Rockland Ronaldo to me.

I bought a replica and an authentic to check out the differences. The authentic is much much nicer so I think I'll be keeping it. Anyone ever experience an issue with heat-pressed items peeling off?

BTW: Hated the new kit initially, but have grown to like it best of the three we've had thus far.

Aside from the fit, what other details are different? I have always bought replica's but thinking of going Authentic next time.

Consistent with everyone's reports, I did the measurements, and the length of this year's authentic is almost three inches longer than last year's, with the width almost too inches looser. I am wondering whether they adjusted the length both to accommodate the new large logo on the bottom corner and because the V-neck is much deeper. In any event, keep this in mind when ordering or just play it safe and buy in person.

My authentic arrived last year with one of the numbers loose and not fully pressed. I brought it to a cleaners and they successfully ironed it on (under a cloth so as not to cause damage). However at some point later in the season it started peeling again so I brought it back to the cleaners. You can only use heat once so they used a special glue and it worked perfectly.

1. The MLS patches are on both sleeves, not sewn, but heat pressed. The patches themselves are of higher quality.
2. The team crest is also also of high quality and heat pressed.
3. The neck tape has text (This City Never Sleeps).
4. Heat-pressed jock tag on bottom right, which is cool.
5. Adidas logo is not sewn, but screen printed similar to the "Etihad"
6. Though I won't be playing in mine, obviously, the ventilation holes in the back are neat.

I know you didn't ask about fit, but like others have posted, the Medium replica was extremely boxy whereas the medium authentic was perfect.

Depends on how much you wear it and wash it. Only wash it inside out in cold water and hang dry it, don't put it in the dryer. The numbers, due to how slim the material is, does come off at times just due to it being so slim and malleable. JayH JayH comments above are also very helpful.

On one of my older kits, the color peeled off of the number entirely after going through the wash, but that may ahve been because it went through the dryer, don't remember.

Material off the actual jersey is much nicer as well.

Forget what the tag says - With this type of material, you should always hand-wash the authentics and then hang dry on a drying rack. The replicas can go in the washer on cold water, and then hang dry.

Yep. I hand wash my authentics. Threw it in the washer once, the anxiety and fear while it was in there was just too much. Been hand washing ever since.

I had pre-ordered the jersey from Modells and received it yesterday. Figured I would take my receipt up to the Times Square one to see if I could get one of the ticket vouchers they were giving away. The manager said they had 250 jerseys out on Friday last week, with 100 vouchers. All 100 vouchers were apparently gone within the first hour they were on sale.

Guess these are popular jerseys. At least for people walking around Times Square on a Friday Afternoon.

My lady got a jersey and a ticket voucher down by 16th or 19th street on Monday. Maybe they still have some.

Got to go to the city today with my school and went to Modells just to check out the away jeresy. Saw it came with 2 tickets to the Orlando game and dropped $85 bucks for the steal. It's a good day.
What modells was that?

I'm not from the city and I didn't catch any street signs, because it was by luck I found it. It was across the street from a cold stone creamery and very close to time square. Sorry that's all I know. I got really really lucky I found the store yesterday... If I had to guess it was probably the Modells of Time Square

West 42nd street.

I'm impressed that someone from Herts, UK figured that one out..........so how did you figure it out

I remembered that when I was over, staying in Times Square for the opening match last year, Dan and I visited a Modells which I (wrongly, I think, on reviewing the evidence) placed as being near Times Square, so I tried to place it on Google Maps for a bit of a nostalgia trip.

Then that didn't work, so I just looked up "Modells" on Google Maps and used street view to check out whether there was a Cold Stone Creamery across the road.

This forum is the best. I would have bet twenty dollars someone was going to do exactly this.

Now we just need a stadium layover to see if that's a viable building site.
