Which “US Teams” could be showing interest in a high priced DP #9? If NYC isn’t kicking the tires on this one, I’m at a loss.
Why? He’s accomplished nothing in the Prem and he’s overpriced.
They’re asking the same price that Atlanta paid for Almiron.
Dutch national team player who tore it up in the Eredivisie and for his NT. Hard to get minutes as a 9 behind Kane. Give him a lower level league like MLS and he could possibly kill it. Only 24, so we can sell him back to Europe if he does.
He has a great strike-rate at lower-tier leagues. MLS is still considered a lower-tier league, and I think he might Giovinco it up in here.

and 1 goal in 44 matches for Sunderland in EPL play.
and 50 in 94 matches for Toronto in MLS play.
Janssen:
28 goals in 39 matches in Holland
5 goals in 31 matches for Spurs in EPL.
Jozy also came back to MLS at 24 years old. It's a very similar trajectory, but I would rate Janssen higher based on his goal rates in both leagues.
Would you take Jozy's MLS goal rate from a 24 year old #9 DP? If heathy, that's like 19 goals a season. I sure would. Answers a ton of questions on our roster.
So then why not just say that he's good friends with Roldan? Instead of in a disparaging way?

Their the same age. Almiron did very well in Paraguay and MLS but has never played in anything like the level of the EPL. Jansen did very good in the Dutch league which is probably on par with MLS and better than Paraguay. Same age. Jansen has done pretty well goal scoring wise for the Oranje. Not saying he's better or as good as Almiron but I don't think the evidence is there to definitively say the opposite either.
Unless Janssen believes he has no shot at the NT, I doubt he comes to MLS.
Almiron spent 2 years at Lanus (Argentinian league) before joining Atlanta and I will say that the argetninian league is harder than the dutch. So I think there is evidence that Almiron is much better than Jansen who cant't get on the field. Can he succeed in MLS sure but he is not in the same class as Almiron.
The Argentine league is harder than Eredivisie in terms of "chances of your team bus being set on fire" and stats like that, but I'm willing to bet Ajax, PSV, etc. would beat River and Boca any day. So I don't see why Almiron coming from Lanus was a sure fire pick vis a vis Janssen stepping down from Tottenham. I think Jack Harrison being meh in the Championship tells you what MLS's level is.
Seems like the latest rumors are Janssen is following Dembele to China. So nothing to argue about anymore. Like NYCFC would ever pay a large transfer fee. haha
I've thought this too at times, but it's one example. Other examples cut the opposite way - such as Angelino and Mendoza being meh in MLS but ending up in Champions League and Serie A, respectively.
I don't think Jack tore it up over here though. He was a good player with occasional glimpses of incredible play, but wasn't consistent enough game to game. Based off reports from Leeds it seems he's actually doing the same thing of looking decent sometimes, horrible other games, and then an occasional glimpse of brilliance. Jack has probably stunted his growth by going overseas a season or two too early.
