Well, this thread certainly escalated quickly.

I'm going to try an sleep for a few hours and see if hostilities have subsided by sunrise.

New rule proposal: if you don't want us to get the best available players, don't fucking post.

We're not your farm team. .

If good players are sent here, yeah, it'll be good for your team. But I for one want the opinions of this forum to reflect those of people who want NYCFC to win, not what is best for a team I personally don't care about.
Sorry, who said I didn't want NYCFC to win?

Am I not allowed to suggest potential reasons why City's best youngsters may not end up here? Am I not allowed to be realistic? Or should I just blame those Manc bastards for not letting their best players play in New York?

Of course I want NYCFC to have the best players, but they are not all feasible. Just like I would love Messi to join City, but for one reason or another (or many) it's not going to happen. And as I've said, there is no obligation for New York to take anyone on loan if they don't want to. Kreis will only take on players who he thinks will be good enough for his side.

Yeah you can suggest anyone you want but it makes sense to be at least somewhat realistic about it. I can throw out guys left and right that are halfway into their contract with another team and too expensive. Do I want them? Yes. Does it make sense? No.
That's why I agree with kun kun
This is a 'rumor' thread. NOT a 'my dream player' thread. Rumor says we are getting 4 youngsters and it's safe to assume it will be on MCFC's terms.

Man city is also connected with Sporting lisbon. Wonder if we can snag one of their youth players on loan. Sporting pops out talented kids like crazy. Ronaldo, Quaresma, Figo, Joao Moutinho, William Carvalho, Tiago Llori, Miguel Veloso...

And orlando snagged two of benficas yougsters on loan. But sportings academy is way better than benfica's.

Are those really kids anymore? Considering NYCFC's limited foreign slot, we are already down to 6 spots left, I doubt NYC will get many more from Euro loans, other than MC's maybe.

I doubt it, City do have a working relationship with Sporting, as they do with many clubs (Such as Oldham, Racing Club, Espanyol, Limerick and Gil Vicente) due to scout/facility sharing or as part of previous negotiations, but I don't think it's strong enough for that to happen. However, MCFC seem to work much more closely with their work permit clubs like Stromsgodset, Hacken and Mechelen. I think that you may see different loans involving these clubs (just like Brovsky at Godset).
Also, Sporting have a tendency to put their better youngsters straight into the first team, so probably won't be looking to loan out.

However, it's a good idea and would be brilliant if some of their youngsters came to NYC, because (as you have said) their youth academy is one of the best in the world.

Throwing a name out - the type of player I think is the next wave of players to join MLS - Giusseppe Rossi.

MLS is never going to challenge for the Top Line players - the Captains of major clubs and country - at least not during their prime.

But MLS has shown a willingness to spend money if the player is worth it. We'll never get that top tier player, but there is a level below it of high skill, in their prime players that we can afford.

He would count as a domestic player too, wouldn't he?

Doesn't everyone in america hate Rossi? I wouldn't want him in NYC. He can play in Italy somewhere
I don't know about hate, but he's not very well liked.

And despite my joke, he actually lives in NYC in the offseason. He owns a place here. He would be a really nice player to have. I don't see him coming back before 2018 because he probably still wants that WCF appearance that has eluded him. Karma is a bitch, ain't it?

I threw him out there as the level of player MLS should be targeting. He just happens to be a well known name around here because of his local ties, but there is no reason MLS couldn't afford a guy of that quality.

He is so prone to injuries tho. But I agree, someone on his level/age is what this team should be targeting.

Empire of Soccer says he's confirmed he has signed with NYCFC. Nothing from the club yet.
