Just curious... how did some of you become fans of teams in other leagues? For some of the Serie A fans, I know it's family/ geographical proximity to your "paese."

For others, how did you choose your club? I'd like to enjoy PL more than I do but it's difficult when you don't really have a vested interest in a team.

First team that got me into soccer/footie was the German National team, due to my roots and playing FIFA World Cup 2006. Due to Bayern essentially being the club for most of the German National Team players (Schweinsteiger in particular), I started following them and now they're my number one team.

Started following Man City since they signed a German (Boateng) and Yaya Toure in the same year. Been following them ever since.

Also will root for the USM/WNT, Irish NT, Celtic, and Tottenham. May take a look at Burnley too since they're becoming a mini Irish farm club.

Aside from National teams and Bayern, my support isn't full fledged for a certain team in the other leagues. My main interests are my roots (German/Irish) and favorite players. I liked Barcelona for a bit (Yaya & Iniesta), but then got tired of watching La Liga become a flop fest and mass meeting zone around the ref when someone got sneezed on, so that put me off.

May start trying to watch Serie A, as a lot of my friends are deeply involved in watching it. Was interested in Fiorentina for a hot second when Mario Gomez was with them but that didn't go well due to injuries. Also sucks in my opinion seeing a lot of empty seats watching some Serie A games, as crowd atmosphere (in my opinion) enhances the viewing experience.

Like the group for Liverpool. Had to hold my breath for not H, but Group H is going to be very fun to watch!

They get to see three of the top scorers in Europe come to their city at least the games won't be boring. Blowout maybe but not boring

should bring the city a ton of money too actually
Absolutely, but the stadium only holds 22000 people that is going to be one hot ticket. Would suggest moving it to a larger venue like the national stadium so more fans can attend but on further investigation it is the largest football arena in Cyprus.

i dont think roma makes it out of the group
Atletico and Chelsea been looking shaky to start the season so idk... Who knows, Conte may hit that mourinho year he mocked. And Atletico still cant sign reinforcements till Jan if they last that long, Roma could take advantage and slip through with some luck

Wow. My simulation almost landed on the actual results. Total coincidence, obviously, but I'm pretty happy with that.

Benfica [actual was Spartak Moscow]
Sevilla
Liverpool
NK Maribor

Poor BVB and (hahahahha) Spurs. Group H: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham, APOEL Nicosia.

Id take RM and Dortmund coming out of that group. Premier league teams are just not the equal to their European counterparts.

Nice to see City avoid a Bayen, Juve, Real or Barca in their group for a change. Napoli are good team but City should be the favorites for the group here.

PSG V Bayern might be the pick of the group stage matches but they both should make it out of that group
