UEFA Champions League 17/18

Well basing how they’ve played what, 5 meaningful games this season- at the time I posted, maybe 2? It was based off speculation and last season.

Your stats are all nice, which I half read, because stats really don’t mean anything in Soccer.... which would make it a whole lot funnier if city really didn’t make it out of the group. and the way you’re going on about it you think they actually have a chance at winning the whole thing based on 5 games, and no injuries

Glad you took it to heart :)

Napoli also lost to Shakhtar. Allowing 11 shots and 4 on target and conceding 2.
City gave up 6 shots, 2 on target and conceded 0.
They've both also played Feyenoord. 8 Shots - 1 on target and 28% possession.
Against Napoli 7 Shots - 6 On target, 1 goal and 44% possession.

Sampdoria thrashed Everton, Manchester City tied them.
Sampdoria must surely be better

Ah okay, I took it to heart. Right. Really just trying to educate you. When you make ignorant posts based on maybe, possibly, could be mistaken, they might have been last year games I feel the need to correct you. You clearly just pulled half of what you posted out of no where and it was so obvious you had zero clue of what you were talking about. First it's a couple games earlier, now it's speculation and last season lol okay. You'll see me comment on no Serie A teams at all because I'm completely ignorant. I made no claims on where they will go, simply provided you with information on what they've done to squash your false claims. You know, stones and otamendi are shit cause I've seen a couple games and they like to give up early and late goals when they've given up 1 in 5 contests...
Sorry, didn't think you'd take a reality check to heart.

man city will win the world cup and champions league, guys im sorry for having an opinion you dont agree with i love man city man city is my life stones is a top class center back better than the likes of maldini because dan has never watched him play

I think we can all agree thats it going to be a good match up.

You cant fairly compare the Napoli vs Shaktar game to the MC vs shaktar game for a few reasons. Napoli underestimated Shaktar and did not play their A lineup (thats nobodys fault but napoli's but it also isnt a representation of what their A team would be able to do).

On top of that Shaktars captain did not play in the game against MC but he did play against Napoli. Reason being he got caught doping for the Napoli game.

As far as stats go both teams are very good at scoring goals, Napoli is currently the highest scoring team in Europe.

I think the games against each other are going to be very competitive and I could see each team winning their respective home games.

I think both teams are going to score goals. The main difference is going to be how the ref decides the call the game.

goooooooooooooool!

So the handball should have gotten a red and a PK? Do they separate physical fouls from infractions?
Honestly a red would have been harsh as Navas basically smacks the ball point blank into Ramos's hands, but in the moment it sure felt like Ramos was grabbing at the ball to keep it from rebounding off of him. Ugh.

I wasn't thinking of that play in particular. I was only addressing the rule change involving DOGSO. It remains a red card except in one particular circumstance: the infraction results in a penalty kick and the offending player was making a play on the ball (as opposed to the man) in a situation where he had a reasonable opportunity to make a play on the ball. That second half can't be true of a handball.

I don't see why people think the Ramos play was a red card. The goalie pushed the ball out, so it was traveling away from the goal when it struck Ramos meaning it couldn't have been DOGSO.

Quarabag 1-3 Roma
(2 goals for Roma in the first 15 minutes of the match. Quarabag score their first CL goal ever just 13 minutes later. Quarabag almost get the tie in the final minute of the game but the header goes just wide)

CSKA Moskow 1-4 Man U
(Playing without Pogba this game turned into the Martial and Lukaku show. Lukaku scored a brace while Martial picked up a goal and an assist. Mkhitaryan scores the 4th on a rebound from a Martial shot. Kuchaev kills the clean sheet in the 90th minute of play)

FC Basel 5-0 Benfica
(Surprising blowout for Benfica. Gave up 5 goals while maintaining 58% possession. To add insult to injury Almeida picks up a red card in the 62nd minute. Dimitri Oberlin picks up a brace.)

Anderlecht 0-3 Celtic
(Convincing away win for Celtic, only their second ever in their CL history. Also, breaks their slump of not having won a single game in last years group stages)

PSG 3-0 Bayern
(It seemed that Cavani and Neymar put their animosity aside for a very convincing PSG win. Both players picked up a goal as well as a 2nd minute goal from Dani Alves. However, the player who impressed me most was most certainly Mbappe. Vidal put one into the back of the net for Bayern but unfortunately for them it was ruled offside and home team kept their clean sheet)

Atletico Madrid 1-2 Chelsea
(Atleti take the lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot off a silly penalty from David Luiz. Chelsea fight back hard and Morata finds that back of the net with a well placed header in the 59th minute. Batshuayi then scored a dramatic 94th minute goal in the dying seconds of the game to give the visitors the win.)

Juventus 2-0 Olympiacos
(A very dull start from the italian champions combined with some great saves from Proto looked like Juve may not ever find the back of the net. 60th minute substitution Higuain changed the entire dynamic of the game scoring the game winner just 9 minutes later after recovering his own rebound. Mario Mandzukic would put the nail in the coffin just 11 minute later.)

Sporting CP 0-1 Barcelona
(A surprisingly poor game for Barcelona and a very strong second half from Sporting. The only goal of the match comes as an own goal from a Suarez cross into the box from Sebastian Coates.)
