CCL race

One matchday done. Two names off the hit list:

LA Galaxy
Seattle Sounders
Sporting KC
DC United
Real Salt Lake
Philadelphia

At least one more will be eliminated tonight, as Seattle hosts KC. Root for the Montreal upset of DCU as well.

Once they're all eliminated, we qualify for the CCL.

And then there were two:

LA Galaxy
Seattle Sounders
Sporting KC
DC United
Real Salt Lake
Philadelphia

Damn we're so close...

If Montreal or Toronto win MLS Cup, wouldn't we get a CCL bid as the only Canadian bid is given to the winner of the Canadian Cup?

Vive Montreal!

Although I do not see how this is fair to Canadian teams.

Canadian teams have a much easier route to get a ccl spot then American teams. The 3 Canadian MLS teams basically start in the semi-finals in their tournament. Imagine we got that in the USOC every year? I'd forfeit both of the 2 options we have (winning the east or MLS cup) to start at that point in the USOC each year.

Each confederation (USSF, CSA) has a certain number of spots into the tournament. USSF has chosen to use a combination of USOC and MLS to determine who gets their spots. So in essence we are vying for a USSF spot, which obviously the Canadian teams are ineligible.
