Everything's been said already but
38' Angelino, I'm not sure if it was a shot or a cross (that I wish someone was on the end of), but it was very close. Another weaker one, after being fed by Jacobson, in the 70'.
71' Pirlo spins away from Carrasco, passes to Poku, Poku composes himself on the ball while some Disney defender goes clattering to ground, makes his move and leaves Cerén chasing him with t-rex hands trying to play grabby grabby, feeds it to T-Mac for another sensational goal
85' Villa could have (should have) had a hat trick after Mix burnt Carrasco and had a nice flick inside the box to him

I was not at the best vantage point for this game in 135 (I was looking for youFootyLovin ) , and trying to keep an eye on my boy. But from the defense I saw in the first half, mena looked strong and quick. He covered for the fullbacks as needed. Looks like a player. I admit he looked bad on the replays of their goals. Nice to see us attacking right at my seats for the second half. The Calle goal was awesome touch by iraola and by McNamara. Loved villas second goal, he created that out of nothing.
At one point pirlo was dribbling and the entire crowd was silent. It was pretty cool. Like everyone was in awe. Hope we win next week so we can stop worrying about getting into the playoffs and just try to start playing well. This could be an exciting few months.
Too much work this week to make a sign and forgot the Pirlo hair masks in the car. Next week ...

Amazing game by the team. When I saw the starting lineup I thought it was our best so far. Poku and Calle deserve minutes.
But it has to be said that the atmosphere was great. Nice job by the supporters. Probably the best they have been all year.

Clearly not important in the scheme of things but I just remembered I'm glad we were back to the white shorts today.
A couple of other points.
- People have criticized Mena for Larin's 3 goals, but Facey deserves criticism too. Facey losing Larin's completely on the 2nd goal was really bad.
- Some of you are giving scores to our back line that are way too high. We gave up 3 goals. The play back there was not good.
- Was the offsides call on the original 5th goal correct? Anyone see a replay?
Yeah Villa was off by a mile. Also larins 3rd came as a result of a Poku turnover I believe. A piss poor one at that in our own half.

I can't figure out what the hell Villa was doing there. It was obnoxiously offside, and for no damn good reason.
He also wasted a sick run by Mix. Just saying. I am a "Villa-in" (patent pending).
You know what gets me all bummed out? That we're going to lose Angelino. Is there anyway in hell that NYCFC can sign this kid permanently?

No way they can sign him perm. If they had a talent like angeleno in their academy, they would have to sell overseas anyways. MLS isn't at the point where they pay big bucks for young talent like this, or at the very least give them an attractive enough offer where they can overlook overseas interest.
Got back home and was in such a buoyant mood that I watched it again on FS2Go and laughed hysterically at the dramatic irony of the commentators expressing doubt about Pirlo as an appropriate DP.

- Having a striker as the keystone of one's team always feels slightly off. A top class striker is rarely going to be the guy who structures your play. That said, timing dictated that Villa was our first player and captain, and he's been incredible. It's odd to me that for some posters, the joy of seeing Pirlo position our less tactically educated team mates seems to be incompatible with admitting that Villa is also delivering the goods. Be happy.
- An ideal CDM passes well, tackles well, positions himself well and has reasonable feet. Jacobsen is awful at everything except for the part about feet. Puzzling player. His distribution is so slow sometimes that our movement in midfield completely shuts down. Why make a run when Jacobsen has the ball? You're not gonna get it.
- Mena, Pirlo and Iraola all got taken apart on this thread for their defending but did a lot of it with superior positioning today. The play where Rivas shot when most thought he might have played in Kaká was actually superb positioning by Mena, I thought. There was no angle. We are always getting caught on counter attacks but I attribute it to a lot of our midfielders and forward players not pressing effectively. If you look at most teams that play with full backs deployed that far up the field, they're able to snuff out counter attacks by preventing clearances and through balls by pressing. A lot of the time you'll see Villa screaming and gesticulating at his midfielders and forward partners because they're not working hard enough to get the ball back high up the field. Then again, pressing in the heat isn't that sustainable so maybe we need to adapt a little.
- Thought Calle was very promising albeit a little rusty. He has a guile on the ball that most of our midfielders lack. Some great combinations with Angelino. Finally, a midfielder who can play a 1-2!

There's a massive difference in the way Pirlo instructs and how Villa attempts to instruct. It's not Villa's fault. He's no Pirlo. He's a tiny little Spanish striker, and everything that comes with it.
Saw a friend post a picture with Fat Frank outside of Yankee Stadium today. If they're going to let him into the stadium he might as well be useful and go into a mascot costume and be paraded around the stadium.
I saw that too and I'm happy for Poku to have Pirlo guiding him...JK is still waiting for Poku to prove himself over Grabavoy before he teaches him anything.
