#MLSisBack - July 9 - Philadelphia (Postgame)

We needed someone who can score from midfield today.

If anyone is watching the Montreal/New England game, it may be some small comfort watching Montreal squander any opportunity in the final third as NE tries to hunker down for the last 10 minutes with a 1-0 lead.

To the game at hand, Tinnerholm’s crosses didn’t stick out to me as worse than anything else, but I also had to start doing work in the second half so I was watching distractedly. He had one towards the end of the first half that Taty almost got the end off that I thought was decent but also didn’t fault Taty for missing at the angle he had.

What site do folks use for post-match states on things like individual player passing competition, key passes, etc?

tindy late was overshooting the box everytime on the crosses.

We were pretty poor in the final third and disappointing to watch really.

Interesting to see so many people seeking to take a dump on GMS for missing a couple chances (against a keeper having a stormer) but no mention of Gedion Zelalem who came on at the same time and *consistently passed the ball to the opposition*...

I'll always stick up for the wee man, so I'm clearly biased, but NYCFC fans have a tendency to find someone and decide that person is going to be the target of their ire and I don't think singling Gaz out in this instance is particularly fair (although I expect it to keep happening!)

That phenomenon is not exclusive to NYCFC.

In my view, Tinnerholm usually overhits 9/10 of his crosses. It is his most obvious weakness.

i would argue Tinnerholm's most obvious weakness is his left footed shot after cutting in and beating the defender cleanly. he could be our Robben, but nah.

We don't have any good crossers of the ball. I can't understand why it's so difficult to hit a driven ball across the box to a target. sure, now and then a lofted ball is appropriate but it should also be at a target. some mistakes here and there are fine too. i don't expect perfection. but as you said, it seems like more times than not, the cross is not on target or even in a danger area.

or maybe we are being extremely harsh and this is the reality of MLS quality at this moment.

GMS has actually shown a pretty good ability to send in crosses from the left, though in an incredibly small sample size. The problem there, is under Dome (and so far under Deila), we ask our wings to cut inside, limiting his ability to send in crosses with his left.

Yes Gedion showed us why Arsenal and SKC decided they no longer had room for his services. He gives off the appearance of being very... "non-commital". I think the criticism of GMS is the fact that he showed very little last season on top of not finding the net on two good chances yesterday.
I mean what kinds of chances does this team need to find the back of the net?
