As much I understand the hate for the Red Bulls, I don't understand the hate for NJ in absentia. I live in NJ. I have plenty of reasons to hate it. not sure why some here hate a state they probably know absolutely nothing about. Like I said- hating the Red Bulls is something different entirely.

Maybe I was being too lax reading it, but first time I read it, I took Jock 's comment as Fck NJ *the team*, and he wrote it out for inflection.

That, plus a general disinterest in traveling to New Jersey to watch football.

Not much against the state in particular - I think i've been to maybe 15 states and it's not one of the more exciting ones.

I am honestly thrilled about how everything was gone, but the only thing I wish they began earlier was the youth academy at all levels when they announced the club. That way, would have been able to sign some HGPs right away, all while grooming the younger generations in the Man City blueprint.

See, I agreed with this notion up until Sands and Gio appeared, and both of them feel agonisingly close to becoming first reamers already. When I look at it, I simply can't believe that we would have generated a player good enough to be a first teamer any quicker than we already have done now, even if the academy opened its doors the very day the club was announced. You don't find players of that quality who aren't already attached to a club unless they're young enough to need at least a couple of years in an academy first, and even then it often takes longer. Most gems need 5 years or more through a professional academy system, but we're already beating that figure even with the slow roll-out of academy age groups.

Keep in mind that the commonality between Jack Harrison, the Sand Bros, Gio Reyna and some of our other top prospects is that they were all developed at NYSC, a club founded by Claudio Reyna. I don't know how much credit NYCFC can take, but Claudio 100% can.

True, fair enough. I still think we'd have done incredibly well to gain a HG player in our first two seasons by any other method though.
