2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs

That's completely crazy that they'd host a concert that weekend. Does LAFC actually own the arena? I had thought so, but the Red Bulls no longer own their arena.

ETA: I looked it up. The stadium is owned by a commission consisting of city and state agencies. It is managed by the University of Southern California, and LAFC subleases it from the University.

Sports Illustrated Stadium is still owned by Red Bull, they just sold the naming rights.

No, somehow the ownership got transferred to the municipality, I think.

Hold on - incoming Wikipedia search...

The Red Bulls transferred ownership to a county agency in order to settle a tax dispute. This happened in 2016. The Red Bulls have a lease through 2038, with a further 20-year option. It seems the Red Bulls retained the ability to sell the naming rights. The county has the right to hold up to 48 events at the stadium each year.

Oh wow, totally missed that. Must have been some tax bill.

this game is quite yawn. Come on Austin, do something to make it interesting please.
pretty sure that's their game plan. keep son and bouanga under control and get a goal if they can. otherwise get the draw and take it to PKs.

ah yes. that makes sense now that I re-read your post. you're right. that is kind of strange.

EDIT: according to reddit, there was a 21 pilots concert at BMO over the weekend. then they had to have some time to fix the surface i guess.

this is why i hope the club does not allow hosting concerts while the team is playing.
This is probably why Sims and FO are very in favor of having fall-spring season. so summers are used for concerts.

At least we didn't have the most embarrassing supporter performance of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Good show, Chicago Fire fans. Soccer fans in this country need to learn how to lose with class.

hoping for a nashville upset. sigh. would feel better if we were already through to the next round.

Messi just pulled one back with a 90' missile.
Gonna be interesting to see how much extra time they tack on.

ETA: 6 minutes.

The amount of space they gave Messi in that spot in the box was wild.

I guess being shitty at taking PKs was the order of the day.

Vancouver bounces Dallas 4-2.

Portland forces a game 3 with San Diego by winning their shoot out 3-2.
3-2. I don't ever recall seeing that total before.

Wow the Portland game was amazing!

The penalties... Yeesh San Diego need to learn how to take penalties LOL. Three missed like that is pure jaw-dropping bad. Even Philly at least had them saved by LAFC's keeper...

So I sit down to watch Seattle v Minnesota.
20 minutes in it's 2-0 Seattle.
Time to shut things down and pick up a book.
The matches weren't very entertaining this weekend.
