Wow, huge. That's a way better CB signing than I expected, if true. Based solely on the player's reputation (10 caps for the Peruvian National Team at age 24), he seems more than capable of starting in a 3-man backline, or having one of him or Chanot fill in at CDM if necessary.

And playing for Real Sociedad, even with their B team, suggests some real talent.

If we went with Callens (left-footed) and Brillant (right-footed) as starting CB's and using Chanot as a sweeper, it would solve our CDM problem, release the fullbacks forward, and allow the wingers to pinch in. Could be a massive upgrade.

If you play that way, I'd rather see the wheels on the outside man. Brillant is so slow. But Chanot seems to me to be better in possession, so it's a wash I guess.

You could also play a little unbalanced letting Mata bomb up and having Shelton/Allen stay more back.

is moving Shelton back to fb a thing? I think I mentioned that before. Either way, it's something I support trying. A big, fast, athletic fb is a huge asset.

Chanot looked good going forward a few times last year. If we don't get a true CDM, I'd like to see him play there. we know he can tackle and get aerial balls.

I wouldn't sleep on our ability to get another INT spot or a green card for Jack, Eirik, or Villa. The chances of us not getting Khediera bc of no INT spot is zero.

If he's quality, I would like to see Chanot as a Sweeper/6. I don't know the formation we are going to play, but if it's the hybrid 3-3-4 we tried at the end of the season offensively, into a 5-2-3 defensively, it makes sense to play Chanot as a Sweeper

With two more expansion teams coming in and plans for more on the way we have to be coming up on an increase in international slots. There just aren't enough quality American players to fill out all these teams.

When we play 3 in the back with him at RW he is nearly a fullback. There were scouts before the superdraft that thought he might project better as an overlappping fullback too.
