I disagree he should have never got dropped after the Orlando game and should have got more a chance i think his confidence was killed. But today he was working and he created a good scoring chance chopping brilliant and forcing Hamid into a great save. I think it’s the start of what he can do he just needs more time. The slow start has to be because he hasn’t got good consistent minute since Orlando. He got a start then played 10 minutes in each game after that. He should get 25-30 mins every game if he isn’t starting in order for him to catch some type of form to be a good spot starter. I think Wednesday is a good game to give him a great run out. He played well today and held the ball up and made some plays and if it wasn’t for some bad refereeing he should have got two foul calls in the far corner

Just would like to point out that Jon Champion on the call said that NYCFC lost all prior meets at DC United. That is a false statement. NYCFC won 2-0 in May 2016.

This was total domination. We have seen this before (last year) but can it hold?
Some very pretty combinations out there and everyone was in their proper positioning. Loved seeing Heber and Maxi and Treats working it. Maxi should cede pens to Treats or Ringer or Heber.
Sands was good and Ofori was a monster. Nary a bad touch and worked out of difficulty with total calm. For the second week running. Still would like to see more Parks but Ebe is not a liability.
Medina was lame as usual but to his credit, when he came on I said I’ll forgive Dome if he scores or picks up a yellow. And he did, so all is forgiven for now.
JLew had a good match. Maxi is a beast. Tinner and Mata both solid and creative. And the new guys...

Id assume someone has fed him a bit of paper with stats about nycfc and DC united and he is probably just repeating it.
Saying that, I think broadcasts with him as the lead commentator make games 100 % better.
Now if they only could get rid of Taylor Twellman....
Also NYC was winless at Audi field before yesterday, and they probably got those factoids mixed up. Of course saying a team had never before won at a stadium when the history was 1 game is stupid, but it's very common, typical TV sports stupid.

As others have pointed out, it was a terrific performance. Confident, gritty on defense, fluid on offense - a throwback to Vieira, for sure.
Early on, several players were way too quick to pull the trigger on long range shots - almost sensing that was as close to the goal as we’d get. After a while, they took more time to create better chances, and the goals came.
Sands was terrific save for one play when he let Rooney wander off and get a free header. Ring was gritty, Ofori was sharp. Matarrita is a much better player as a wingback. Overall, not much to criticize.
Big question will be the starting lineups for the next couple of games with Mitri hurt and Heber not fully fit.

Mitri, Isi and Taty hurt, Heber gassed. This was a great and encouraging game, but I’ll be gritting my teeth for Wednesday.
If we go with a 3-5-2 now, I can still see a spot for Isi here and there.
I struggle with where Lewis and Taty would play in that formation except from the bench. Maybe Lewis could play off of Heber. But that’s it.
And there’s no place to hide Medina in that lineup.

I think it's all about those forward players getting reps and building muscle memory. Apart from a target man (Héber, Taty), the other two should be semi-interchangeable. Obviously Maxi is Maxi but I can see Parks and Shradi doing a decent job of deputizing for him there.
I don't think Maxi is any more indispensable in this system and I don't think any of the other players necessarily fits worse in it than they did in a 4-3-3-ish system.
I had a good time ironically chanting Dome Out yesterday whenever things went tits up.
FWIW, whoscored.com's positional charts actually showed a 3-4-2-1 with Mitrita up top and Maxi and Heber as the attacking mids/supporting strikers.
He's new to the league and made a mistake. It happens. Let's try to give people the benefit of the doubt instead of attacking them for being human. Not everyone should be ripped to shreds for the smallest of slights.
The issue with Lewis and Mitri is that they both occupy the same position: They are right footed inside forwards. Their best position is on the left wing complemented with an overlapping fullback so they can cut inside.
Mitri was not as dynamic on the right wing when he played their yesterday and neither was Tinny. He was keeping the ball on his right foot not cutting inside, which limited Tinny's effectiveness as an overlapping fullback. Tinny's best moments came when either Medina or Maxi were playing that RW/RCAM position that allowed him to properly overlap especially in the second half.
Lewis looked good as a second half sub, but he needs to prove he can give a 90 minute performance in order for us to talk about giving him consistent starts.

But you have to think the people feeding him information have been with ESPN/MLS for more than a season and would maybe make a correction on air.
Or maybe he meant to say at Audi Field, got confused, and no one in the truck noticed. Why is this even a thing? Why do we have to drag every MLS personality through the mud every time they make the smallest perceived slight at NYCFC? Let's be better than attacking people every time they write something or say something that appears to minimally "slight" NYCFC. I'm glad you're paying such close attention, but give people a chance to breathe.
