David Villa Sanchez [Forward]

After reading the article, David Villa just got some many more points in my book. Part of me just thought he was here for the money. He's here for the city and America and his family.

Cool story.

I know he gets temperamental sometimes, perhaps even selfish. However, I've never questioned his dedication or work ethic. I hope he sticks around for a few years. He's my favorite City player.

He is my Favorite Footballer too. I agree with most of your comment,g except for the selfish part. David dedication and commitment comes from the heart and what to others, it may seem selfishness or surliness . He is just expressing his frustration when others don't have that same vision or commitment and passion as he does. God bless Davicito's beautiful legs!!! Amen

Selfish only in the sense of realizing that you can't do it all yourself and sometimes you need help. Everybody does. I think for a while, David tried to do it all himself without complaining and then he just got to a point and exploded.

David Villa has done everything CFG and NYCFC has asked him to do. I mentioned this once before, but he didn't play the "star" card when CFG asked him to go to Melbourne. He went and, I think, he would have stayed except either CFG and|or NYCFC asked him to come back in December. He simply said NYCFC wanted him to come back.

I've been truly impressed with his demeanor from the moment he stepped on the pitch in Melbourne to the moment he stepped off (and beyond) at the MLS All-Star Game. (Kaka gets points for this, too, in Orlando.) He's just a guy who enjoys playing "The Beautiful Game"... and it shows.

I don't personally know David, just as fan I have met him, but before the story came out, and before he signed with NYCFC I learned some facts that are not very public, because he is a very private person. He sponsored UNICEF children with disabilities. When the Chilean miners were trapped , he learned that one of the miners was his fan, he sent him a Jersey worn and signed by him in support and encouragement, since David's dad and grandpa were miners too. He is not here for the money, he believes in developing the sport in America ( Spaniards call these regions America)

He fits the description (below) but not the title. If Latino were replaced with Hispanic in the title, it would be more accurate. I am sure there are differing definitions depending on the source and purpose though, but Latino probably is more often than not inaccurate here.

"David Villa has been nominated for the 2015 FutbolMLS.com Latino Player of the Year. The award honors the best player in MLS born in the United States, Latin America, Spain, or Canada with Hispanic descent. Villa is one of 32 candidates chosen for the knockout-style bracket."

Latino or not he speak Spanish. Andale Andale David.
He qualifies to be a contender

David Villa
The striker and team captain of the New York City Football Club still has the boyish looks that earned him the nickname “El Guaje” in the village of Tuilla, in northern Spain, where he grew up. At 34, Villa is the leader of New York’s newest home soccer team.
