There's A LOT more Etihad all over the stadium. Outside where the players come in, it's Etihad Boarding Lane. The field is called Etihad Pitch. On the website, inside the stadium. Etihad. Etihad. Etihad.
Maybe Etihad recently signed the deal to name the stadium because your recently shared news about an imminent announcement is real, and this is what they get in the meanwhile.
And there wasn't an Israeli flag during the pregame introductions...)
Are there international flags during the pregame intros? has there been an Israeli one in the past?

How in the hell is Villa way out in front in this? Just when I think I can't think any less of the opinions around here.

Same way Iraola never got MOTM. We're in NYC and we like headlines and flash. Chanot, Callens, Ring did all the work to get Maxi, Wallace, and Villa to shine.

I think either Etihad is paying more the sponsorship this year or just wanted more for their money. It should be Etihad Field though, that's the more American if they're marketing to the American audience.

It was flags of people that had attended NYCFC matches. Maybe they should have used the World Baseball Classic Heritage rules where those with historical ties to Israel can play for Israel. But this isn't a place for politics.

True. I would actually say Wallace and Maxi did more than their share of work.

And Villa was very good. But snark is best served via quick jabs.

It's so nice to finally have the players who fit the system instead of trying to force through pegs that don't fit. We finally watched PV's team for the first time, and it was a beautiful thing. And keep in mind that some of these guys are still catching up having come over during the pre season. I was sitting right next to PV and I would say that he spent 70 percent of his in game coaching on Maxi, Ring and Callens (with Maxime next, likely trying to sort out the back middle). Imagine when this team becomes comfortable with one another and the system, we will be really dangerous.

The only way the team functions correctly is with a lot of skill and an excessive amount of speed. We have both now (which is why TMac doesn't fit). Now if only we had a tactically intelligent RB with the skill to match.

OMG. That's the perfect nickname. (Though he would hate it). The Super Smurf? The City Smurf? The South American Smurf?
Super Smurf. Don't saddle him with City. And the South American smurf sounds like something out of a spoofed Tarantino movie.

For all the grief with given the front office, can we give them a round of applause for the absolute work they put in with roster acquisition this off season? The only one we really haven't seen yet is Camargo. Ring, Moralez, Johnson, Callens, and Wallace have all been great. Okoli looks like a threat as well, and Herrera has shone in his limited minutes. Add in the late year Chanot signing. A+ work if you can disregard the fact we need a RB

They appear to have done very well. I hope they don't fck up the DP replacement for Pirlo and go with a square peg that is monsterously marketable. Hell, make that dP a forward and bring in Ring's twin brother to run rampant in the midfield.

Even if they don't find another energizer hachet bunny, Herrera could possibly fill the spot with speed, skill, and hopefully a little panache.

Herrera has the talent to be dominant in this league. I hope we keep him at least 2 years, and then I'll likely want him longer. I really, really like his game. I think be needs about 10-15 MLS matches and he'll start standing out even to Villa-voter types.

Chanot and Callens are becoming a GREAT CB tandem. Callens has the great speed to make up for any great player by the offense or out of positioning.

Jack Harrison is so freaking good. Yes he has many things to learn still but the kid is dangerous every time he gets the ball.

I was impressed with the speed of Callens and Chanot, as expected, is smooth on the ball. We've got some centerbacks, folks. Remember when it was Jason Hernandez and Shay Facey?

Also, on Harrison, he's got that move where he cuts left - you know it's coming, but can't stop it. He's great at pulling the string and getting the shot off. So unlucky for that one not to go in.

On the Villa header, Harrison was actually in a better position to head the ball cleanly with power. I saw villa hit it first and thought he stole a perfect setup, only to see his looping header go in.... Jack can't be mad at the result, but the plate was set so perfectly for him.

No. Two customizations. I had the jerseys from before today. I did buy two scarfs. And a hat that is somehow boy's size...

Have you designed your own NYCFC scarf yet and done a limited run just for shits and giggles?

Because that moment might be when you have just enough scarves, just for that moment.

I literally yelled "leave it!" .... But pulling off that header worked too
