been watching WC missed this .
thats cool if you think that....i dont think the farm team stuff is massive issue to the casuals ( some not aware or care). for the hardcore maybe but i really dont think its massive enough, few hundred but not in thousands.
but attendance is issue for different reason imo. For RB its their location simple as that, they have nice stadium but fucking long way getting there from city. Hell more RB fans show up when we play them YS.
for us i think its the baseball stadium, we still do good numbers, people are turned off by the fact that its in a baseball stadium more than man city sends us coaches and players. if and when we get a soccer stadium IN the city, that will be metric to see if its true people hate the whole farm thing
EDIT: oh and its NYC, hundreds of other things to do and events that are not sports. that will always be issue

point/pint. Doesn’t change anything. I don’t proofread before hitting post. Especially when I have so much to hate them about, as is the case today. (Honestly, I never proofread unless I have reason to go back. This shocks no one, I’m certain.)
It should be a requirement of all CFG personnel to have U.S. work permits.

I know you're gonna accuse me of being passive aggressive, but I'm just restricting myself to saying things that I am fairly certain to be true, and trying not to be any kind of aggressive at all.
To be fair, I normally wouldn't respond to something of this nature, but there is so much hate, cynicism and snark on NYCFC Twitter / Internet over this affair that I felt compelled to and chose this post as a point of reference. I'm not saying give the ownership a pass on everything - but I would guess that constructive and respectful criticism or questioning would be more effective. And yes, would remove a ton of negativity from my feed.
It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.
My best guess is we were undone by CFG’s obsession with secrecy. If they filed for a work permit someone might have noticed.
Honestly, if they were worried about being noticed, then Fck them. This is just one more poorly planned rollout that CFG and NYCFC have become aces at. They literally are so out of touch with proper PR and how to spin decisions - it’s mind boggling.
Lately I’ve been enjoying an amused gentle mocking approach to the team, at least in my head. Covers all the bases.
Constructive: as I assumed others would assume, and as mgarbowski delineated, there was a month before this happened that everyone knew it was happening.
They did jack shit, one way or the other, either with who they hired or the hire’s paperwork.

What shitty tone? Calling out bullshit in frank terms? Yes, I find it does help to point out specific reasons one is upset with others behaviors. And yes, it does make shit happen quicker. Frankly, you’re dealing with rational people or you’re not. If you are, you win. If you aren’t, you won’t anyway.

Don’t charge me for what I don’t get. Dont cheap out and throw up obstructed views. Don’t hire folks who can’t work here. Don’t continually lead people on with fake stadium stories and whispers shared via your sales team. Don’t pretend you want to win and make half ass DP signings.

To be completely candid, I was absolutely paggered in Milan when I wrote that post, but I´m game for attempting to back it up.

I completely agree that pointing out specific reasons helps make things happen quicker. I think it´s the aforementioned shitty tone that invalidates your statement about rationality. I´m not convinced that people are either 100% rational or non-rational - most people have the ability to be rational, but quickly lose that ability when confronted with vitriol and tend to respond in kind. I think these things tend to happen quicker when the people one is dealing with are able to remain rational because they´re not contending with the fight or flight response brought on by verbal barrage.
Not a bad list. I´d ideally go a step further and phrase it in terms of observations and ask questions instead of inferring to fill in the gap between observation and theory. That would feel a lot more feasible if the club was better at creating an atmosphere of dialogue and transparency with their fans. And yeah, in the vacuum of that, I think it´s really tempting to lash out. It happens.
Yeah, I´ve had the same thought. My next thought is - how did they think that the consequences of somebody finding out could be worse than the backlash from looking like they don´t have their shit together, and losing valuable time for Torrent to get established?
I don´t really understand the obsession with secrecy, based on the minute scale of the things that they try to keep secret. Part of me wonders whether it´s a generalized / default cagey approach that has developed subconsciously because in their heart of hearts they know that this is all a reputation-laundering / soft-power strategy funded indirectly by a repressive regime.

Is it possible they just hadn’t filed a work permit because they were still deciding who to hire? Or is that just me being naive and optimistic?
