Yea, I completely agree with everything you're saying. The trend of the sport globally is consolidation of money and power, and basically colonialism. I kind of hate everything about the direction the game is going as far as the business side of it. FFP is an extremely small attempt to push back a bit, but anyway, that's a whole other discussion.
I think that RB and NYCFC struggle with attendance to an extent (at least compared to what I think a club in this geographic region is ultimately capable of). To what extent that's due to both teams being farm teams in some sense, is hard to tell, but I don't think it's an insignificant factor (personally, and based on conversations I've had with a lot of people). Anyway, like you said, some people accept it. It's a personal choice; if I give up my tickets, etc., it's not like I'll wish ill upon the team.
And as far as the Cosmos go... woof. They're not a farm team... they're a bad remix of an old song. And don't get me started on NASL as a whole. I could definitely get behind a lower division team (and have in the past, based on temporary locations). Anyway, for now, I'm still here... We'll see how Torrent does, what the rest of the season brings, and what this coming offseason looks like.
Just to confirm, you weren’t as pissed during your previous pint, but opinions changed with this one? Was it because they ran out of the porter and served you lager? So I’m legit pissed at this pint that we don’t have a manager actually present to direct our squad.
This is some bush league shit, regardless what I said before. I’ve never heard of such a horrendous bumblefuck of a hire/implementation.
point/pint. Doesn’t change anything. I don’t proofread before hitting post. Especially when I have so much to hate them about, as is the case today. (Honestly, I never proofread unless I have reason to go back. This shocks no one, I’m certain.)Just to confirm, you weren’t as pissed during your previous pint, but opinions changed with this one? Seems reasonable to me. Especially when there was a month of lead time.It should be a requirement of all CFG personnel to have U.S. work permits.
Don’t think that’s possible but it would expedite things. It should be a requirement of all CFG personnel to have U.S. work permits.
Does being really pissed and using a shitty tone with people usually work for you? It hasn't generally worked in the long run for me.So I’m legit pissed at this point that we don’t have a manager actually present to direct our squad.

It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.Seems reasonable to me. Especially when there was a month of lead time.
Honestly, if they were worried about being noticed, then Fck them. This is just one more poorly planned rollout that CFG and NYCFC have become aces at. They literally are so out of touch with proper PR and how to spin decisions - it’s mind boggling. It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.
My best guess is we were undone by CFG’s obsession with secrecy. If they filed for a work permit someone might have noticed.
Lately I’ve been enjoying an amused gentle mocking approach to the team, at least in my head. Covers all the bases.Does being really pissed and using a shitty tone with people usually work for you? It hasn't generally worked in the long run for me.
I know you're gonna accuse me of being passive aggressive, but I'm just restricting myself to saying things that I am fairly certain to be true, and trying not to be any kind of aggressive at all.
To be fair, I normally wouldn't respond to something of this nature, but there is so much hate, cynicism and snark on NYCFC Twitter / Internet over this affair that I felt compelled to and chose this post as a point of reference. I'm not saying give the ownership a pass on everything - but I would guess that constructive and respectful criticism or questioning would be more effective. And yes, would remove a ton of negativity from my feed.
Exactly the thought I had about why we’re here.It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.

Constructive: as I assumed others would assume, and as mgarbowski delineated, there was a month before this happened that everyone knew it was happening.Does being really pissed and using a shitty tone with people usually work for you? It hasn't generally worked in the long run for me.

I agree, but it’s an amused, gentle, mocking, sort of fuck ‘em.Exactly the thought I had about why we’re here.
Again, fuck ‘em.
I mean, yeah, it’s not like I’m ready to go to war.I agree, but it’s an amused, gentle, mocking, sort of fuck ‘em.
Now, let me address this point by point:Does being really pissed and using a shitty tone with people usually work for you? It hasn't generally worked in the long run for me.

Come on.Now, let me address this point by point:
What shitty tone?
I completely agree that pointing out specific reasons helps make things happen quicker. I think it´s the aforementioned shitty tone that invalidates your statement about rationality. I´m not convinced that people are either 100% rational or non-rational - most people have the ability to be rational, but quickly lose that ability when confronted with vitriol and tend to respond in kind. I think these things tend to happen quicker when the people one is dealing with are able to remain rational because they´re not contending with the fight or flight response brought on by verbal barrage. Now, let me address this point by point:
Calling out bullshit in frank terms? Yes, I find it does help to point out specific reasons one is upset with others behaviors. And yes, it does make shit happen quicker. Frankly, you’re dealing with rational people or you’re not. If you are, you win. If you aren’t, you won’t anyway.
Not a bad list. I´d ideally go a step further and phrase it in terms of observations and ask questions instead of inferring to fill in the gap between observation and theory. That would feel a lot more feasible if the club was better at creating an atmosphere of dialogue and transparency with their fans. And yeah, in the vacuum of that, I think it´s really tempting to lash out. It happens.Don’t charge me for what I don’t get. Dont cheap out and throw up obstructed views. Don’t hire folks who can’t work here. Don’t continually lead people on with fake stadium stories and whispers shared via your sales team. Don’t pretend you want to win and make half ass DP signings.
Yeah, I´ve had the same thought. My next thought is - how did they think that the consequences of somebody finding out could be worse than the backlash from looking like they don´t have their shit together, and losing valuable time for Torrent to get established? It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.
My best guess is we were undone by CFG’s obsession with secrecy. If they filed for a work permit someone might have noticed.
Is it possible they just hadn’t filed a work permit because they were still deciding who to hire? Or is that just me being naive and optimistic? It seemed clear from the outside that the deal would be that we release PV on condition he stays until this break. Was set in place weeks in advance. Everything should have been in place.
