Epl 14/15 Season

I wanted to go to this game but couldn't because the tickets have been sold out for weeks. In fact every league game has sold out for about the last five years.

The empty seats aren't because tickets didn't sell, they're season ticket holders who didn't turn up. The thing about City is that they still have a very working-class fanbase and the part of the city where the club is based is one of the poorest areas in the country. Many of the ones who go to games barely have the money to keep their families fed and clothed, and every season their season tickets get more expensive. When you factor in the cost of the travel, the beer and food you have to buy when you're there etc, and then factor in that you've probably got a couple of kids coming with you too so you can triple those costs, then even if you've got your ticket guaranteed sometimes you simply can't afford to go. It's especially bad for cup games, when the season ticket doesn't get you a seat - it makes it hard to turn up each week. Only about 5 years ago, tickets were far cheaper and City only played about 20 home games a season. Now they can easily play 30 of them. People just can't afford it any more.

As for the seats emptying at the end - it's regrettable, but people flock to the exits early in order to get to their cars early. The roads around the Etihad are packed after the games, and on top of that you've got about 20,000 fans walking out who are all trying to cross the roads at once. The streets become gridlocked - it can easily take an hour just to get out of the car park. Some people just decide that the better of the two evils is to leave 5 minutes before the end.
Why can't they sell their tickets

Fair points, but the argument can still be made that they are the only top 6 team in the BPL who see regular empty seats at home games. I agree that the ticket prices in the BPL are a shame, and something needs to change.

EDIT

Never mind. Left a long thread concerning MCFC and implementing a Ticket Exchange program, but I went to their web page and see they already have one in place.

Nothing to see here folk, go on home........

Costa will miss tomorrows match (suspended, lost his appeal) and Fabregas is doubtful with a hamstring injury.......advantage: visiting team.

As a side note, with Sanchez doubtful for Arsenals match vs Villa my fantasy team is destroyed this weekend.

I still think Chelsea can grind a result out or at worst a draw. Jose doesn't lose at home and Chelsea are class of the league this year. I hope we can draw them but I still don't believe the season is over if City lose tomorrow.

The only advantage id give to Chelsea, other than Mourinho and being at home, is their position at the top of the league puts more pressure on City to win, which might make them more open. Chelsea don't have to win, they can tie, City on the other hand must win or things could get very tricky from here on out.

I don't believe City have to win. It's January and it would keep the divide at 5 points. That's not a mountain that can't be climbed. I won't say it will be easy because of course it wouldn't be. I feel Chelsea are the best team in England and I still think they were last year as well. Luckily we were able to sneak by them.

Strange how Costa only got a 3 game ban. The rules are that if you appeal a decision and lose, your ban is supposed to be extended by one further game. He should've been banned for four.

Is there perhaps a different rule for League Cup appeals; because even though the punishment affects EPL this was I believe a League Cup ruling and appeal.

They add the extra match if they deem it a frivolous appeal. They didn't, so no extra match.

I think it is a joke though when you see Huth got a 2 match ban for tweeting "Cock or no cock".

Should've got 3 games for the stomp and an extra five for generally being a ***** all season.

That isn't true, most of the attendance figures were clearly bullshit, 6,000 empty seats for Liverpool and Arsenal at home, 4,000 against Real Madrid!

It was also claimed that there was 10,000 empty seats against Norwich, photo evidence suggests otherwise.
