Just thought of this one whilst taking the train home & listening to some Dropkick Murphys:
"For City"
starts out with "Let's go, City!" chant & clapping
For City, for City,
we sing our proud refrain
for City, for City
'tis wisdom's earthly fane
for here are all one
and our hearts are true
and the towers on the town
reach the heavens own blue.
for City, for City
'til the echoes ring again
For City, for City
thy glory is our own
for City, for City
'tis here that truth is known
and ever with a right
shall our heirs be found
'til time shall be no more
and thy work is crowned
for City, for City
thy glory is our own
I like the premises, but it's a bit too Robert Frost and I'm not sure you'll be able to win over the non-forum fans with a song that needs to paraphrased from old English.
Maybe a bit more Frank O'Hara?
