This will definitely be a big test for us. Do we continue to win/lose by 1 or draw or do we get demolished? What's your take?

We're going to win. We're going to get 3 points. Mix will get 3 goals. All will be right in NYC, MLS, and the soccer world. We're going to win out the rest of the season and claim the supporters shield. Lampard will come on the Yankee Stadium field dressed in the black kit during this first game and score two goals in the win. We're going to have a 3rd DP and win the MLS Cup.

Right guys?

Imagine if we won big this game? Would whitewash all of our crappy season up until then

Not at all. If they win big against the Sounders then it's most likely a fluke. I'll take a fluke at this point, I don't care. I want them to win something. A fluke win against the Sounders would give them confidence.

But the realist in me thinks they're going to get destroyed. I hope I'm wrong.

If we had a major problem with tactics or shape, I'd feel better. But sadly, our failures are individual mistakes or individual lack of quality. That doesn't inspire me to feeling better. Our players just aren't good enough.

I don't see that being corrected quickly.

I think this is what a salary cap makes you do. The well coached teams take less talented players and whip them into a strong unit that plays better than the sum of their parts. I think, surprisingly, kreis has done an admirable job with the defense and that frees us up to go get more help on offense.

I think we would want no part of NE these days. They have tremendous depth in midfield and forward. Just looking around the league, Houston is the only team we match up with on talent. You might say San Jose, but they definitely seem to be getting more than us.

I think we have some decent guys that would make good squad players to give a real first team a look.

With the red card to Jacobson I hope Poku finally gets his shot. Calle, Hernandez, Villa and Nemec might all be questionable for this game so we'll see when it gets closer to Sunday. I think we look a lot better when we're playing a 4-3-3. Mix just looks so uncomfortable playing so deep in the 4-4-2.

There were no defensive subs against Chicago, hence the Dunn substitution. The only available defenders were Brovsky (started), Calle (midfielder turned left back, started), Watson-Sirobie (started), Wingert (started), and Mendoza (who didn't make the lineup). While the following were out: Facey (flew back to Manchester on a family matter), Hernandez (calf strain), George John (out for foreseeable after knee surgery) and Williams (adductor strain).

If Facey has not returned, and neither Hernandez nor Calle return, not sure where that leaves us except Brovsky, KWS, Mendoza and Wingert, again with no defensive subs available.

Wow, we really need Hernandez back.

For better or worse, Mix is probably going to be tasked with hanging back again. A lot of people here seem to think we are playing an ugly attempt at possession ball, and not putting guys like Mix further forward, but honestly these two things are probably the reasons we get results like 0-1 and 1-1 rather than 1-3 and 1-4.

I'm going to assume Villa, Nemec, Hernandez, and Calle are out until I hear otherwise. With Jacobson also gone, I expect another 4-2-3-1 looking lineup like last week's played according to the heat maps:

Code:
---------------Mullins--------------------------
---------------------------Shelton--------------
------------------------------------------------
--Grabavoy----------------------------Ballouchy-
------------------------------------------------
----------------Mix---------Poku----------------
------------------------------------------------
--Wingert------------------------------Brovsky--
--------------Mendoza----W.Siriboe--------------

Wow that's ugly. Need to get healthy.
