no response from Garber, Lalas, Kreis, @MLS or @nycfc to my tweets asking about employing cops to get players out of trouble. They are definitely hoping that one blows away unnoticed.

this happens in other parts of the world....but part of me would be surprised it happened here.
It's very posible Larin had greater expectations of what the OCSC house cops would do. I've no doubt they hire former and/or off-duty cops for security, and it's likely those guys have told the players to call if they ever get in trouble. Larin thinks it's a get out of jail free card and the copes just meant I'll do what I can.
I'm pretty sure part of the "agreement" would be not to publicize the arrangement when being arrested, because once openly discussed, even if not on dashboard camera, the arresting officer has to make a decision that could have career implications. It's probably one thing for a cop to cop conversation about it, that leads to lost paperwork, but when the perp openly discusses it, it's no longer back channel quid pro quo within the department.
Or something similar has happened before and Larin is speaking from prior experience.
That's what I figured everyone was assuming. I was pointing out there's another explanation that happens to still make Larin look bad but the team and cops are not necessarily as corrupt. Either could be true.

I have been very underwhelmed by official responses to a couple recent events. No public statement from MLS or OCSC that doxxing officials is something presidents of supporters groups shouldnt do. No public statement about Ted Unkel refusing to answer press pool reporter questions about that shitty red card.

What would the league or OCSC say? I don't think there's a proper response or one is even required. Short of some proof of systemic sweeping under the rug by OCSC, I just see a guy trying to get out of trouble, like Gotham Gator says.
Surely @nycfc has guys on the various local forces who are friendly to them. If they don't, someone isn't doing their job.
This part of the event, again, short of corroborating evidence that it's systemic, is just a non-event to me.
When I was younger and dumber, I witnessed a couple of people talk their way out of a DUI at various times. Believe it or not, it's often not much different than what he's trying to pull off.
