MLS - August 17 - Nashville (YS)

Having Nico here is making a major difference. He could really be an X-Factor for us down the stretch and with how close the East is there is a reasonable chance we move up the table. If Keaton finds a way back before the playoffs, we really could be a dark-horse team to make a deep run. This team is not far away from being a true contender now that we've finally replaced Santi.

Good win. I liked what I saw out of O'Neill. The defense also tightened up after the disaster class of Nashville's goal.

Alonso Martinez - how soon before he becomes one of our top five players ever? The guy is consistent.

Nice to see Maxime Chanot hanging out in the concourse with fans.

I’m annoyed that I missed the chance to hang out with Maxime. NYCFC through and through.

Keaton is done for the year and maybe forever

Glenn said Keaton's out for the year after having foot surgery. It just hasn't been announced yet.

Did not know that. Sucks. This team is still capable of getting to a conference semifinal again this year.
Oh yes. Things are really coming together. If Martins comes back healthy and with his usual pace, and Gustavo is as fast as they say, I could see us running a kamikaze high line. We could be an absolute nightmare come the playoffs.

And we still have room for another piece. Maybe two.

I've always felt in MLS if you have a guy who can control the midfield and dish off to a savage in the box you have just as legit a shot at the cup than anyone else. "IF" Nico can be our very own Rusnak/Puig/Evander and build a chemistry with Martinez, why not us?

Spot on. And I think that's exactly what Nico is going to be. I want both of them to stay forever.

Seattle in 2018 signed Ruidiaz in the summer window, went on a massive run, finished 2nd in the conference and nearly went on a deep run. I'm not saying that's going to happen here, but it's certainly possible.

Ojeda.

Obviously there hasn't been enough time to make a case, but he's been a different player in the Toluca match and today's. Can it be that signing Nico has taken the pressure off? Can it be he now has the attitude he's just going out on the pitch and play his game without the pressure of being a guy that has to carry the team? For all the crap we've given him (me just as much as anyone else) we (I) tend to forget he was only a teenager when he came to the club.

Ojeda was really impressive today.
Tayvon I love u but your crossing game is so frustrating
Tis all I really saw, only tuned in after the rain delay ended

Good win!

Which makes it all the more funny that The MLS broadcast named the Nashville assist as the assist of the match. Granted, I believe they chose that one before the Alons-goal. But still, very silly
Well, the Nashville assist was a terrific pass, although it was also the third or fourth time they had burned us that way in the first 15 minutes.

I especially appreciated how Mukhtar had to turn his hips to get it done. Tough angle.
