As seems annoyingly ususal I had to be out of town yesterday and just watched. Echoing everyone else the 90-minute intensity was impressive.
A couple of things…
Both Trapito and Fernandez had solid matches. Hoping this is the turning point.
Wolf has been wretched as finisher be he has been excellent as a defender lately.
Haak deserves a healthier shout-out on the first goal. He made it happen by disrupting a breakout and then springing Alonso. The commentators gave him zero credit. He made that goal.
Speaking of the commentating, I think Sam does a very good job of transcending his RB bias, but the other guy kept calling the Red Bull’s New York and it was driving me batshit. Amateur hour. National commentators in the NFL and MLB and the NHL use team names to differentiate them in a local rivalry game. Joe Buck doesn’t call the Yankees “New York” and the Mets the Mets. Yankees and Mets, Rangers and Islanders, Giants and Jets. City or NYCFC versus Red Bulls. It’s not that hard.
Doubly annoying because RBNJ does t actually play in, y’know, New York.
Great match. One again Pascal did a great job with tactics and subs.
And it’s time for us to give this defense a little credit.
