Montreal (Home) - Postmatch

4yo daughter got her first cap today,
I tried to bring my 5-year old daughter, but she noped out as soon as we got to the second level concourse due to noise, even wearing her noise reduction earmuffs. So that was a bummer. Especially as I'm out of town for the next two home games, so that means not being back at that piece of shit stadium until June. Not great value for my season tickets this season so far.

Also our team is bad.

Still at work for half an hour. I dvered this but glad I still checked the result instead of just watching it. No intention of watching now. Also no intention of spending a day or money to come out to a match as long as at least Dome is still there.

I mean, I said after last game there was gonna be a locker room revolt.... if it doesn’t happen, the players have no backbone.

I feel like ring will say something but will the FO Pay attention. He is not villa level

If the FO doesn’t pay attention, then the players should walk out of practice. It not as if they gain anything from it.

Before Dome I had seen every MLS game this team had played. I missed most of the 2nd half of last season because the team was so unentertaining. This was the 1st game I've missed this season. I don't think I'll be watching any more until we start winning again. I just have no desire to watch at all. It's completely unappealing to me at this point.

That was utter shite. Domè must go, he has nothing to offer to the team or the club. I've been repeating myself since the last September about this. He must go, now. He should have gone, then.

The team itself is not half bad. I know there's still no substitute for Villa, who could change a game with a sudden flash of brilliance, but that can be handled if the strikers started scoring (if the team plays the right way). The team still doesn't have a left back, which is traditionally a position, where most teams have their cult players.

The team has a couple of players who are completely out of their depth. This Castellanos lad - he's a terrible waste of wages. Medina - a complete tourist. And why not move Sands into a CB, and then move Ring back to the 6? The team has the best #6 in the league... so naturally you'd play him out of position, wouldn't you? Which brings my thoughts back to Domè... Get rid, now.

Give it time, Dome just needs another off-season and two transfer windows to get his tactics in place.

So I picked a 0-0 scorline for this game and got it right.

I dont see many goals being scored as the team has no real goal scoring threat.

The field situation is a shambles.

I see no objective proof that the team actually holds practices. Maybe they just do sessions for the gram.

It occurred to me at some point early in the 2nd half that given the level of talent on the team, they should and would likely get better results if there were no coach at all.

This is interesting, given that the "product on the field", in the parlance of our times, is by far the best it's ever been, league-wide. Would you elaborate?

The way I see it is that the MLS model(and American sports in general) is more about making owners richer than it is about running a sports team.

There are some genuine owners in MLS, but there are some that have run their clubs down to the point that fans are fed up.

The problem for MLS , that other American sports dont have, is that there are alternatives to watch that produce a better product etc.

Whilst I understand that MLS wouldnt probably didnt exist without the model it started with, it needs to rememeber that soccer fans in the USA arent clueless about the sport anymore.

They want something thats genuine, that they feel they can be a part of. It is moving in that direction, but there is still a way to go.

One thing id like to see is the abolishment of the expansion fee. $100 million + would be better spent on teams training facilities acadamies and stadiums than it is on paying back an investor.

Agree with pretty much all of your lost, but didn’t Ring play as the 6 today?

Appeared so from TV.
He did. And it's a major reason why we why we dominated possession again for large parts of the game. Thing was, to be fair our defense (even -- shocker -- Mata) was actually very good today. The problem is ALL down to issues in the final third. Which is why I don't blame the players. They are good enough to keep a clean sheet and play keep away for long stretches. There's just no real plan to penetrate the 18 other than a cross to nobody or a Treats solo run. Any residual patience I had with Dome is gone.

And I will posit that he is likely on a shorter leash than most here think. Even (or especially) if Pep is protecting him, there is a point where the stink starts to spread to him and he will find Dome's performance objectively indefensible. It's not a good look to stand behind a clear failure. I still think Dome will be moved out with a fig leaf if this continues.

As for the player revolt, I think the SS needs to be more vocal before that will happen.

Kreis would have this group near the top of the table at this point.

In case anybody has forgotten, or is willfully ignoring, Montreal, with only ten men, should have won the match in the last minute’ish of the match when the cross fell to the unmarked attacker on the far post who couldn’t believe his luck and blasted the ball over the bar. That was the game winner that they screwed up, not us playing lock-down D.
