Would you be blessing them if they had knives with them as they ran up to Pirlo? Any fan who enters the field should be tackled, tasered, and locked up.

I think what you are trying to say is that he isn't one of our better players. I would agree. But our better players sometimes don't show effort. A talented player with no effort is useless.
Mikey provides cover at a handful of positions. He's a role player. It's like you've never watched sports before.
To be clear, I'm not claiming he will be among the 11 we protect, only that his low salary will be a factor in that decision. People often pay attention only to playing quality and forget what an important factor the salary charge can be. A starter making $275K might be unprotected because the team figures it can get a player as good or better on the open market. Meanwhile, a top reserve at $60K might be harder to replace.

I actually watched Jeb last night against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. I think he was playing as a CDM. He wasn't so brutal in an NASL match.
I'm only four minutes in, but it's nuts how many fans were at that autograph signing. Sure, Villa and Pirlo would get a turnout in New York depending on the location and place. But the enthusiasm down there is crazy.
I'm very surprised they showed three fans that ran onto the field. Very unprofessional of the club. That third guy though when Pirlo was coming off got rekt.

cool....i get peoples worry that someone can bring a weapon etc (more probably in a derby, or relegation battle where things can always get crazy). but when its not that its nice to see people get to be up close to their idols.
lol..... unless its somewhere turkey ( where there have been instances people with knives in derbies) when has anyone even threatened pirlo when they jump on the field to hug him.
all about showing love people have for a couple of out players. no need to get in a fit about it.
Its also quite common at games in Mexico for fans to throw batteries or bags of urine at opposing players.
I do generally agree that I doubt fans anywhere would really do that at a friendly and towards someone like Pirlo, but those chances cannot be taken.
have you been the victim of it? i keep reading this generalization, but they always come from people who either never been there or just assume because they read it elsewhere therefore it must be true. stuff is thrown..like its thrown here in the US..if its piss is another matter.
if anything i have been hit with beer and cups at nycfc games....should i assume thats piss too?
still, fans go in to the field all the time happens all over the world. even here when all the friendlies happen in the summer....so far i have yet to see a tragedy to a super famous player....im not saying it should happen where massive amounts of people do it but i do like if the player is nice enough for a picture or a hug.

Have I read reports about batteries thrown at games in Mexico? Yes (though I will admit that I cannot personally speak to an experience about this myself, only what national reporters and some USMNT players have spoken to).
Have I been to a game in Mexico? Yes. Have I witnessed piss being thrown? Yes. Was I forced to remove my belt and have it checked before I could enter into the stadium? Yes. I spent eight months in Mexico City for work and had many friends that I met there talk and joke about fans throwing bags of piss at games as being part of the environment.
fine there you go...i dont know how you confirm its piss unless you watching them fill that cup up before they throw it. .in my experiences i havent been hit with any piss. though im not checking at every person too see if they are pissing in a cup to throw it. and joking about it can be many things, true or false. but fine if you want to assume that go ahead. my experiences are different, though i will admit its not in mexico city but in other parts of the country.
i dont know what the belt has to do with anything. i have had to remove it a few times when i go to events here. guess i gotta change the type of belt i use.
hostile environments are everywhere, just that this was no where near that since they all went to see the stars so i didnt see any danger for the players..again dont know why this becamse a piss argument...

I guess you're right. I didn't actually see anyone piss into the cup they flung. But that was what my Mexican friends explained to me it was when it happened. They could be lying. And maybe "joking" was the wrong term. It was being explained to me that it was a common thing at the games as if it was funny.
And I will also admit I haven't been to games outside of Mexico City, so perhaps it is different elsewhere.
I brought up the belt because I have never experienced that anywhere else. Whether it be college basketball, college football, NFL, NBA, NHL, minor league baseball or hockey.
And yes, that was a touching moment, but stuff like that shouldn't be allowed. Not saying the kid should be arrested, but there has to be consequences to things like that. You have no clue what someone's intentions are when they run out onto the field.
two arena events i did this, one was wrestling...guess people assume crazy shit can happen there
