Following my prior post I'll say one more nice thing about him before reverting to form. He looked pretty good yesterday, especially in the early parts of the game. And we were worse after he left, although I think that was in substantial part a case of Poku not doing his usual Poku thing.
Ok, now to the bad. For those who have been following my weekly playoff chase updates, you know I've been keeping track of how we have played since our transfers first showed up on July 12. To sum up, we have gotten worse, and are currently at 0.89 PPG since then (8 points in 9 games).
But they did not all arrive at once. Iraola and Angelino first played July 12 against Toronto, the former started and the latter was a sub. We drew. After a loss to New England, Mena and Pirlo both first appeared as subs on July 26 against Orlando. We won. Frankie first appeared a week later on August 1 against Montreal. In the 3 games with transfers but before Frankie, we were 1-1-1. 4 points in 3 games, or 1.33 PPG. The July 26 games was the high point of our season to date if you exclude the first four weeks of the season when we were living off our 1-1-0 start. Our PPG after that glorious Orlando game, when Pirlo came on for the second half and convinced us all that everything would be magical from here to the playoffs, was 1.143. We have not been that high before or since.
The next week Frank played for the first time. Since then through his appearances and his "I'm fit, I'm not, I'm fit (sort of)" dance, we are 1-1-4. Four points in 6 games, and the win and tie came when he sat out. In games he played we are 0-03.
Sure, six games is an extremely short sample, but he could have avoided that, and chose not to. God I hate him, Soriano and CFG. Our first season collapse dates to 12/31/14.
