Is there a full quote? Does he actually say that he would leave NYCFC early? The quote above doesn't give any context as to when Pirlo is suggesting that he would be willing to do that. As stated without any temporal reference, it does not suggest that he is looking to dispose of his contractual obligations here.

Perhaps incorrectly, but one can easily assume that Ancelotti will fill all of his coaching positions this summer, so if Pirlo was to become part of the staff, it'll be in the next month'ish.

Pirlo actually had an interview with a Spanish radio station (audio here)
They asked him what he'd do if Ancelotti called, he joked saying I'd join him as a player or a coach.
But he then said with players like Xabi, Vidal and Alcantara, they're so good I don't think they'd want me as a player.

Just curious 'what you got'? Maybe you can work for Huff Post and hack quotes up to pass as stories. He said if he was asked, he would go. I told my wife if Katy Perry called, I'd leave too. But, it looks like you are just spreading junk.
No offense, but idk who you guys think is coming here? We aren't a 'premier destination'. We have an average team, in an average league, that plays in a baseball stadium. NYC you say? In the world of Soccer/Football...NYC is eh. There is no way we are getting Chicharito or anyone else like that lol. Stop it with that. He can play for many big clubs in the world. For now it's semi-good players from semi-good leagues or good players from good leagues outside their prime. How many players in MLS came from top leagues? Maybe/hopefully that changes, but it is what it is right now. We need to continue to develop a squad with good players across the board.
And sorry, but it is about ticket sales...it's a business. I'm not paying my good money and wasting my valuable time to go see Mac, Saunders and Hernandez lol. I want to see real soccer played by real players not guys that can't even one touch a ball. I pay to see Villa and Pirlo...not someone like Shelton who hasn't a clue.

I'm just tired of everyone throwing Pirlo to the curb even if the guy farts wrong. He wanted to come here, likes it in NYC. He's the best distributor and passer on this team. I'm sitting at the game now and his vision is ahead of everyone else on the pitch. I don't consider him old, I consider him a veteran. Winning teams have a good mix. If you guys want to start crying every time his free kicks go high, then good for you. It's just sounds like newbie hour in here at times. For anyone to say the guys not contributing, they don't know what they're talking about. I don't really care if I'm offending anyone either tbh.
NOOO! now that the team is meshing - Its worrisome news. I hope not so. I know I have been his critic and have not spent on a Pirlo shirt or anything related with his name. Out of sight out of mind. Maybe its a bit hasty on my part to count him out.
