Shay Facey [Defender]

He misses home, needs to go back often. Maybe that was the issue with Mendoza. Kreis said Mendoza hadn't settled in, now he's gone.

Well that is a possibility of course. Hopefully it isn't and there are other personal issues that he is able to sort out and come back to play for NYC.

My general assumption was that he had a sick family member, there are more to players' lives than a game or adjusting to a new city. I like the kid but if he can't be here for personal issues, then he can't be here and then come June he won't be here any longer and hopefully his life will iron itself out.

Shay Facey went home to deal with a death in his family and no matter what your profession family first. He is back in NY he got back this week. I don't know if he will play tonight.
Sorry to hear. Let's hope he can contribute to the team now and his family can be okay at the same time.

mlssoccer.com has an article on Facey that includes this quote. I find it interesting that it mentions he sees himself as a center back. I'm not adverse to seeing him there given that Wingert isn't great, but at his size I cannot imagine he has a long term future in the middle, particularly back in England.

He looked really good there in preseason, for whatever that is worth

I'm more than happy to see it because our alternatives are mediocre to poor (and not very big either). But it is a weird career goal for him assuming he aspires to play in the EPL or another top European league.

I looked it up, he is the same weight as Hernandez and one inch shorter. But that has Wingert listed as taller than Hernandez, is that true?

That's a very strangely worded tweet. Does Brian Lewis know that all three of those players play different positions? Does he know anything about soccer or is he just looking at the fact that they are all listed as defenders some place.
Probably the latter

He's definitely assuming a defender is a defender and that position means little.

That's Definitely acceptable for the casual fan, but not a sportswriter.
