Someone Already Knows Who The Coach Is

Unless we can get someone really good for McNamara no we do not trade him. His guaranteed compensation is $71,500 putting him in roster spot number 23 in terms of compensation, as of the September roster list. That means his salary does not count towards the cap. McNamara is both cheap and good in terms of MLS quality. He is a great rotation/bench player for us to have. You do not trade him unless we are getting something very very good out of the deal. Like if we are trading a bit of cash and tommy mac for a starting CB.
Or to off load some of our dead weight.

Not knowing much about John Harkes I looked him up on Wikipedia hoping to understand the reference. I still don't, but did stumble upon perhaps the most US Soccer thing ever:
"A mainstay in the US national teammidfield for most of the 1990s, Harkes was named the team's "Captain for Life" by then head coach Steve Sampson before having that title stripped from him by Sampson soon after."

John Harkes allegedly became a bit too intimate with Wynalda's wife. Not exactly what the locker room needed. Sampson took matters in to his own hands before the cancer metastasized beyond repair.... although some would say it had already hit that level if the '98 WC was any meter.

Ah, this is where Wikipedia fails; and I specifically checked the "Personal Life" section.

There is a rumor that he was out with Velasquez before he went to rehab. His benching was around the same time, but I never saw that rumor substantiated by any reputable source.
So you heard a made up, reputation damaging rumor about one of our players (who by most accounts is a really nice kid) and by your own admission that rumor has never been substantiated by any reputable source, and you figured you would perpetuate it by posting it here? Nice.

My problem with Wynalda's tweet is that he is a broadcast analyst for Fox Sports, so if he has reliable information regarding NYCFC's next coach wouldn't he have an obligation to his employer to break that story? What's he going to do? Wait for the story to break and then go on Fox Sports and say "I knew that two weeks ago but I didn't want to ruin the surprise." Regardless, whoever the next coach is I hope that he has the sense to play Poku a lot more than JK did.

Wynalda is simply guilty of bad sentence structure. the "IMHO" should have been placed at the beginning of the sentence to make it clear he was speculating on TMac's future role. We should all know that EW is nothing if not stocked full of hyperbole and rampant opinions - although to his credit, he eats crow when proven wrong.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . This is an internet message board, speculation is what we do.

Can someone please fill me in here? What exactly has Wynalda said about knowing the identity of the new manager? All I can see is that comment about McNamara not playing under the new manager, but I read that more as a follow-up to the Poku comment - i.e. "any intelligent manager coming in will put Poku straight in the line-up and that will result in McNamara getting pushed out". I could be wrong, but that one tweet seems a little...circumstantial.
He said in another tweet he knew who it was already. I updated the first post but here

That's kind of what we do here. Because sometimes someone responds by saying they saw it confirmed, and that's how we learn. As long as it's accompanied by proper disclaimers it's completely proper. Plus, "out with Velasquez " is not exactly "helped procure drugs and booze for him."

I agree with that sentiment but I wasn't referring to EW's comments about Poku or TMac. I was referring to his tweet that he "already knows" who the next NYCFC coach is. NYCFC_dan posted a copy of the tweet a few posts above.

EW's tweet is from yesterday which would suggest he learned the name (if true and not trolling) either Friday or Saturday, neither of which make for good PR days. I believe the team is regrouping tomorrow (two weeks off), so I'd wager the announcement will be tomorrow, either with the new Manager greeting the players and a presser afterwards, or vice versa.

Could be a friend of his or someone that trusts him so he's staying quiet so as to not anger them.
Either way we'll know soon.

My first reaction is that Wynalda is full of shit, but then I remember how wro wng wron wrg in error I was when Messing broke the news of the impending Kreis firing, so I'll have to take a step back on this one.

If Wynalda does know who our next coach is, he knows a helluva lot more than the guys in the New York Post. FWIW, I exchanged emails with Brian Lewis and he told me he hasn't heard anything as to who the new guy is. He's pretty sure it's not going to be Patrick Vieira.

A lot of people are starting to think he is in line for arsenal.

OMG I hope is not John Harkes !

But T Mac is not very good. That might be all Mr sweater vest (wynalda) is saying.

I enjoy calling Lamps "Fat Frank" but really it is "Fat Tommy" who labors to get up and down the pitch. He had a decent run of goals there for a few matches (hey even Ned scored two in a game), but really he is not fit or skillful enough to be a starter.
You take that back

If EW knows the new manager, my first two thoughts are (in no particular order): Tab Ramos or Steve Nicol. A dark horse being Preki. Otherwise he's got to be talking about a rumor he's heard via a third person, because EW is a bit too smug of a guy to be rubbing elbows with Euro coaches that also want to confide in him.
