Stadium Discussion

They can’t be emailing all season ticket holders, right? What if 10,000 people show up to this potential announcement tomorrow morning?

I think the team should allow all the fans who can to show up, to show the support. I think they will announce a raffle to attend an unique event on Wednesday, and that if you want to attend you will need to enter a lottery by 3pm, and they will announce that 750 fans will be allowed in plus an additional 250 tickets for TR and Los Templados.

I heard it's 25,000 invites. They already built the stadium. It's somewhere covered in cloth like a big Cristo exhibit. Tomorrow they're going to rip off the wrapping and give a tour to the 25k guests.

That's what I heard.
Well I heard they built it in Qatar to host some matches. They are going to ship it over after the WC. The announcement will be virtual from the stadium with the USMNT present & Messi, who will be announced as our future DP after this season. (Then loaned to Man City before he gets to play in NY of course!)

What? Y’all haven’t noticed they built Etihad Island next to Randall’s island with a 30,000 seat stadium on top of it? How did we all miss it? Or so I’ve heard

For the sake of how rare and potentially special this opportunity is, I hope they really go all in here.
Also, CFG, you better not go cheap with the design and stadium. It’s a rare chance to build something new and special in NYC.
I was in a meeting with Ferran 3 years ago or so, and he dropped the figure of $500 million.

Looking at this raises a question in my mind around parking. Certainly, the Mets parking lots are within easy walking distance. But, what happens when the Mets have a game the same day? There are a few possibilities, from the acceptable to the terrible. First, it's always possible that we are allowed to use the Mets lots, but this seems unlikely. Second, we could get the same treatment as the US Open and get directed to Flushing Meadows Park, but that might create local opposition. Third, we could be told to stick to public transit and have shuttle buses from lots farther away - as was done with LAFC for MLS Cup. Fourth, we might not be allowed to have a home game on the same day the Mets are at home.

Gotta think we'll be sharing Mets parking. I know dates for Mets / NYCFC might conflict but they could always have a Mets 1:05 start followed by an NYCFC 7 or 8PM start on a Saturday.

Also there are 81 Mets home games. That lot isn’t always full. Also, many people would take the train to both games anyway. It would be very rare when a NYCFC & Mets game could overflow the lot. Like late September Mets playoff chase combined with Tigres CCL match. Not the biggest worry in my book.
