Stadium Discussion

Anybody else see that email about the Tunnel Club? I wonder the pricing. Looks like something between what would be legends suite and pitchside now?

The email discussed three options of Gatsby, Tunnel, and Pitchside, and as I read it, new Pitchside is the least expensive of those options. Gatsby and Tunnel will both be more. According to informed and believable rumors, Pitchside will be much more expensive than it is now.
Very annoying that they just don't say something like "Prices for this set of membership options will start at $_____." Pricing shouldn't be a closely held secret from your current customers so they have to have a conversation to get the info.

Completely agree. Wish that transparent pricing was a thing in sports to make things fair but they pull numbers out of a hat pretty much. Wish they would just release a graphic with all the tiers of membership they plan on offering, their general cost range and offerings.

Not saying this is what is happening here but with technology and AI, there may be dynamic pricing in play here. Why offer people the same price when we can offer prices based on what we can assume the costumer can afford? Do what you can do to hide the fact the prices are different per person.

people share prices and people will get angry. don't think they are so greedy as to do that across their fanbase.... are they?

I don't even think they need to do it. They will have three levels of premium more pricey than current pitchside, plus more premium levels to come. That's how they will manage to extract maximum value from everyone. Sure, there will be some people of extreme means who choose to buy median price seats, and they'll just have to accept that.

More than the pricing I would love to see transparency on the benefits. I told the guy what I was looking for and explained that I need the perks of a seat to make sense for me to want to spend money.

I’m very concerned how expensive this is all going to be. Would hate to get priced out of this new stadium.

If I get pricing I’ll share. I know the suites were $300k for the season (I think someone mentioned that earlier but wanted to confirm)

We will be launching Phase 3 of Etihad Park premium seating later in 2025 and will keep you up to date with all the latest developments. Please note that we do not anticipate general seating for Etihad Park to be available until mid-late 2026.
Wondering whether this is a subtle tell that the club knows MLS will switch to the fall-spring calendar before Etihad Park opens.

We received season ticket pricing information for the 2025 season on April 15, 2024, with the first payment due May 15. Pretty much the same for the past few years. April 15 is roughly 10 months out from the start of the following season. Seems odd that the club anticipates getting around to general seating in mid-late 2026 if the 2027 season starts under the existing schedule. Late 2026 would line up with being 10 months out from the start of a fall-spring season.

lol can't wait until april 2026 and they are charging every body without telling them what kind of seats they're getting

Tunnel Club will be the cheapest of the three, then Pitchside, then Gatsby. The cheapest Pitchside ticket from what I've been told is $17k all the way in the corner for one seat for the season. That's 4-5x more than what it goes for now at Yankee Stadium / Citi Field for the season. Gatsby is $35-$50k for a seat. It's fucking stupid pricing and pricing out the people that have been sitting Pitchside for 9 years. Who is going to pay those prices for MLS?

Yikes. Do you mind revealing how much is the most and least expensive Pitchside now, if you know?

As for the order of expensive things, you're right. I misread part of the email so it's Gatsby (16 seats), Pitchside (96) and Tunnel (164) in descending cost and exclusivity. I also just caught this: "Memberships will be available only on a full-season basis with a multi-year term commitment, based on location."

Wow.

For those prices, they better have a competitive team with some big names because there's no way they're going to sell those seats with the kind of squad we currently have.

Who is going to pay those prices for MLS?
Just like every New York team we won’t have a home field advantage. Those seats will be sold to corporations/businesses to take clients out. Sure it’s MLS, but it’s a nice new shiny stadium. Partners of the club will gladly shell the money out for this. It’s chump change to places like JPM.

They must have some data that supports the high prices for premium seating. Yankees priced tickets in the "moat" at ridiculously high prices and then eventually lowered them when they didn't sell.

"Wanna go sit pitchside with me"
"oh wow! Who are we gonna see? Messi? Ronaldo? Haaland?"
"Tommy McNamara!"

This is why I never understood why they would wait for the stadium to open to make serious investments in the roster. They need to sell these packages now. I know the corporations that are going to buy the high-end packages may not follow the league closely but I would think some of them will notice if we miss the playoffs or if they don't recognize a single player on the roster.

CFGs current pitch for the new stadium:

If you are looking for expensive pitchside seats look no further than New York's hottest club NYCFC. This team has it all:
  • Incomplete rosters to start every season
  • Pouting Serbian teenagers
  • 17-year-olds trying to stop Messi
  • Forwards that can't finish
  • An offense that only works if a 37-year-old is on the pitch
  • Former Strikers who are still learning to play CB

I think 2026 begins the really big push for the club to have the most competitive roster it can.

ETA: just wanted to clarify that that doesn't mean I think that's the right approach, just what I think the club is doing

Awesome! Steffon is never not funny.

Looking a bit to the past...
  • A striker that leads the league in goals and Yellow Cards
  • Raccoons on the pitch
  • That thing where the star player puts his hand on an intern's thigh
  • A shirtless coach doing push-ups...
