I used to love them but now I just find them annoying and disruptive to our season. More trouble than they're worth. We're about to lose a few key players for a couple of weeks and for what? A couple of meaningless friendlies? Games that literally mean nothing?

I wish it were like basketball, you have the Olympics and the World Cup and that's about it unless two squads agree to a friendly that works for both of them rather than jammed down their throat by some bullshit third party organization.

Oooff. Why don't they just decline the invite. I've seen players in Serie A do it when they called up for meaningless friendlies in the middle of the season. Is that not allowed on the USA team?

This is a big camp to prepare and select the team for the gold cup.

USMNT is a bigger stage, chance to be seen abroad and for the players, appearing in a USMNT shirt usually leads to more money either in MLS or attracting a team overseas.

On top of it all, MLS's Soccer United Marketing (SUM) sells the TV rights for the USMNT games -- meaning MLS receives more TV money for the USMNT games being on TV.

So essentially, its in the league and players' interest to have them.

Yup. No league games next weekend. Most European national teams have Euro 2016 qualifiers. Not sure why MLS has games.

Now for obvious reasons that's pretty good for us. However, as I questioned in the comments section over there, how does he make the point of leaving MLS players off the roster for lack of game fitness, then adds a guy (Iberra) whose season doesn't start for 3 weeks?

Some decent players there and i have seen all these recently. John Anthony Brooks, Timmy Chandler, Tim Ream Alejandro Bedoya, Julian Green, Fabian Johnson, Alfredo Morales, Aron Johannson and Rubio Rubin.

They are all in good form.
