Yep, and Group F is a Group of Life if ever I saw one...

Best Matchups:
England-Wales: The Battle of Two Countries of the Same Country
Germany-Poland: World War II Part II

I was about to vent about the lack of interest of the drawing results Euro 2016 from my forum pals. firstly I was disappointed I missed most of it. Caught the last 1/2 hour.

I had no idea it was going on today and it seems most of us were caught up on the Puerto Rico Vacation.
will not expand or comment too much on it since I have to look at all the groups, Just to say from what I caught , England had the easy group , the group of death is debatable .

My Personal Favorite is France and can Spain do a triple? Germany is the strongest contender .
Love Spain and it still has most of the winners of 2010 WC and is ranking 4th but...they are older...not as hungry and their best forward is here with us and although the Spaniard coach Del Bosque last year hinted that Villa may have a place , OMG that creates a problem for our team. On the 50/50 chance that it becomes a reality oh no...
Love Villa , Love Spain, love Paella but how is this going to affect our team? awww:eek:

England should make it out but I think the Wales game should be tasty. With it being more or less a derby and Bale most likely better than any individual England player won't be overly shocked if the Welsh take something out of it.

Portugal should have a walk over and though the Swiss are no joke France at home have no excuse not to make the knock outs with this draw either.

Does anyone know how the actual drawings work? Is it purely a random selection process or do certain nations receive some sort of favoritism?

It is finagled somewhat.

As the host nation, France is automatically seeded in the #1 spot of Group A.

The rest of the teams are then seeded into different pots and then have their names drawn at random to fill the groups. They do this to avoid (for example) having one group with Germany, France Spain and Belgium and another with Iceland, Slovakia, Albania and Turkey.

It's done based on the UEFA coefficients of the countries involved, same as the World Cup is done based on the FIFA World Rankings.

To further go on what Gene and Falastur said, there were 4 seeding pots (numbered 1 - 4) each with 6 teams that got divided into 6 groups (labeled A - F) of 4 teams. France was in pot 1 as the host team and automatically given group A, position 1. Your position determines who you play when within the group. The teams left in pot 1 were randomly drawn and placed in position 1 of a different group going in order from groups B - F. For the other pots the teams were drawn from pot 4, then 3, then 2 randomly and placed into different groups going in order from A - F. After they were placed in a group their position within that group was randomly drawn for positions 2 - 4.
