U.S. Open Cup 2016

I know. I posted that on the other thread. It's on the US Soccer site.

7,000 seats on one side. Football lines. Not a great venue.
TERRIBLE VENUE.

I'm hoping that NYCFC still has time to change the venue. Maybe it will depend on how many tickets they sell but, who the hell knows. Looks like I'm taking the Metro North from Grand Central.

What are some reasonable better venues:

1. Yankee Stadium (obviously home field)
2. Columbia (17,000 capacity)

I can't think of anything else...

St. John's is a better facility but smaller capacity.

I know nothing about that venue, but is there the possibility of bringing in additional temporary seating on the other side?

B and D train a bit of a walk, almost a mile but certainly doable. Mile and a half to the 2 and the 5. And there's buses from the train too (Bx12). MetroNorth goes there, almost on-campus. Around $15 round trip though. Two per hour going up. Only one per hour coming back though, 9:39pm (cutting it close), 10:39pm, 11:39pm.

Those two would have been perfect options.

Much higher capacity, the Yankees are on the road that week.

As for Columbia, it's also a higher capacity, and it would have been a perfect test run, if you will, for a possible stadium there.

To be fair, Seattle plays all of their open cup games at Starfire which is only 4k and they have way more STHs then we do. Only the final is played at CenturyLink.
This is great perspective. Reading this thread I find myself scratching my head about the assumptions of how many people we will draw. I know from my pack of 8 STs I'd probably only buy 4-6 for a USOC match because my friends aren't as hardcore as I am.

I guess I won't be surprised if the 7k seats at Fordham sell out. But I wouldn't be surprised to see empty seats either. And I'd be pretty shocked if we could double that number to make Columbia feel full, let alone YS.

What's so bad about it? Is it bench seating?

YS would be better. But I can walk from work and drop in to Jolly Tinker on the way. I'm feeling pretty good about it.
The night I first hooked up with my wife we had been drinking at the Tinker earlier that evening.

It'll be at Fordham University on June 15th at 7pm.
So, USOC n00b question here, but are USOC matches not allowed to be played at MLS venues because, well, they aren't MLS matches and the venues are owned by MLS and not the teams? Though I presume an MLS v MLS matchup can be played at an MLS venue...

Or is it purely a scheduling conflict thing?
