took me awhile to see this but as a Bills fan , ouch .

NYCFC announced that on February 28, 2020 that Taty had received his Green Card, which could have happened much earlier, of course.
Last I checked on the rules (which was in connection with Jack Harrison), a person had to be a Green Card holder for 5 years in order to gain citizenship - only 3 years if he/she is married to an American citizen. Plus, the person can't have been out of the country for more than 6 months at a time.
Much as I would love it, I don't see how this could happen.
He's also provisionally cap tied to Argentina, I believe, which may mean that he couldn't switch if he wanted to since he wasn't eligible to play for the U.S. at the time he was cap tied.

so happy for taty. i'm sure it was his dream to play for his national side in meaningful games and getting picked for argentina is no small feat. hopefully he gets on the field and is able to show what he's got so that he has a good chance to get selected for more games and eventually, the world cup.
