Westchester Recommendations

I moved to White Plains over two years ago but I have to admit I haven't been exploring much of Westchester County or what it has to offer. I am looking for things to do, food to eat, parks to go for hiking, etc. I really only have knowledge of downtown White Plains since I'm a few steps from it. Hoping some of you more established folks in the area can point out some good food/drink options and just general things to do that you/your family and friends enjoy to do. Recently just had some friends also move to Hastings on Hudson as well as Yorktown Heights, so anything close to there works as well.

Of note, some of the locations/places I have been able to see/do/eat/drink;
-Kensico Dam Plaza
-Captain Lawrence Brewery (nice setup, eh beer. Not bad, but not great)
-Sleepy Hollow
-Broken Bow Brewery (good beer, small location/setup. I recommend it though)

Thanks for any recs! Maybe we can form a meetup for Westchester Forumites for an away day viewing or something?

Great stuff. I am south of you in Bronxville. I don't head that far north for many things, although I did enjoy a good dinner out at Mediterraneo a few months back.

Below are a few good recommendations for southern Westchester we've gathered the last few years.
Taphouse (gastropub) - Tuckahoe
Burrito Poblano (simple Mexican) - Tuckahoe
Scalini (Italian) - Bronxville
Encore Bistro (French) - Larchmont
St. George (French) - Hastings on Hudson
Harper's on Main (American) - Dobbs Ferry
Polpettina (Pizza) - Eastchester and Larchmont
Galloway's Bakery - Scarsdale
Bike Sundays - The Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars certain Sundays of the year so that people can bike.
Bronx River Park - In addition to Kensico Dam Plaza, there is a park running the length of the Bronx River - in particular south of White Plans. Great for biking and running.

Indeed, great stuff, and I second many on Gotham Gator 's list. I will add a few thoughts as well.

Just to cover a couple of old Westchester staples, grab a square slice at Sal's and a hot dog at Walters, both in Mamaroneck.
For pizza and more, but more lively, I like Fortina in Armonk and Stonefire Grill in Mt. Kisco.
For beer and good food, I like Fin and Brew in Peekskill on the water (coincidentally, I believe NYCFC had a kids event at that pier).
For more upscale, I like the Inn at Pound Ridge (a Jean Georges restaurant).
For a great Japanese place, Dai Sushi in Pleasantville which looks unassuming.
For special occasion farm to table, Blue Hill at Stone Barns is an experience (albeit often hard to get a rezzie on short notice).
Dale Talde from Top Chef opened up a fun Chinese dim sum place in Tarrytown called Goosefeather.
Portchester has some really good restaurants as well, which are good before seeing a show at the Capitol Theatre or Garcias
Katonah is a fun town to explore, grab a bite, some drinks, etc.
There are so many great places to hike/bike/explore, including Croton, Pound Ridge, Bedford, Pleasantville, etc. (the list goes on and on)
If you like poker, my house is a good spot

I moved from Long Island to Westchester in 2018. I lived in Yonkers for a year, but last summer I moved to Tuckahoe. I'm right around the corner from Broken Bow! Granted, I don't drink so I haven't had a reason to go there, but I'd be down for a meetup nonetheless.

Everyone else has named several great places, but you all seem to be forgetting the only one that matters: Mr. Taco in New Rochelle.

Port Chester is a sneaky good food town in southern Westchester. Bar Taco and Colony Grill (pizza/beer) right on the water are two of the trendy spots. Peruvian spot (Misti Restaurant) on Main St is excellent, Mexican spot Salsa Picante right next to the train station is great. Number of other high-priced places include Sonora (Mexican tapas).

Mamaroneck also a great food town. Sal's Pizza if you want the best pizza in Westchester. Get the sicilian. You're welcome. Harbor Island is a beautiful park on the water.

Gotham Gator JayH QuazyPat ZYanksRule Thank you all for the recs!! I will have to break out the food pants that I thought were retired for a few months after Thanksgiving and the holidays... may need to add a few more cardio trips to the gym each week too. These all sound delicious and will definitely get me travelling around to get to them, which makes it even better.

I've heard good things about Port Chester as well when it comes to a plethora of food options up and down the main street area.

The fam and I are moving to Pleasantville in August! It seems like a great town.
