What Do The Others Leagues Think About Mls?

Mls is growing, players like frank lampard and david villa had incorpprated.... the soccer is more complete... a mls team is almost in concachampions final... now is a nice league to watch

It's been growing for quite a few yrs now.
Difference being now is that MLS are starting to ship in players that are not passed their prime.
OK they ain't spring chickens but they could have so easily carried on in their respective leagues for another season or two at a comfortable level.

Yrs ago the MLS was considered a league of 'has been's' to be frank. (that wasn't meant to be a pun but not a bad one as it turned out lol ).

MLS is growing in momentum, and teams like NYCFC have brought me here, OK I'm a City fan but I've been following the MLS out of the European season for a few yrs now, NYCFC have given me a direction and a team to follow.

Before that I had a siding for DC United because I once bought a pair of cheap DC United shorts from the Adidas outlet store in Florida while on Holiday in the late 90's, how fcuking sad is that.

NYCFC has given me a team close to my heart.

Living in England I can speak on behalf of English Football, the MLS right now to me has lots of potential, it's heading in the right direction, with Sky Sports picking up the rights to them tell you something as well, I personally feel like this year will be the transnational year in which the MLS becomes more global to the "average person"

Talent wise it's not too shabby, I personally think their a mixture of some really good talent and tbh some poor talent that are trying to make a name but just aren't quite good enough, a lot of people go on about it as the "Has-Been" League but since Beckham went and the formation of the DP, you getting more and more players moving a little bit earlier than expected like Robbie Keane, Thierry Henry and David Villa, their is some exciting talent coming through as well and it good to see as English man that Soccer is getting taken more seriously in the USA now

Team-wise its miles better, if it was like it was in 2008 with 15 teams I think, it wouldn't of survived, I'm glad that their more and more teams coming into the league and the team coming in are from the expected cities like New York, Orlando etc.... Just gonna make the MLS itself more popular in the USA

I would say I think the MLS right now is in a transition period and I'm looking forward to see where it ends up and hopefully it becomes a recognised league globally

Great points.

One thing I'd like to add is what I think is the lynchpin. A star.

We need one (1) International monster striker midfield defender star. A world beater. One American that kicks ass.

Then I think the domestic league will start to grow in legitimacy. When young kids can visualize the future, they will start choosing soccer as a first choice and the league will get a ton more farm players.

We won't be successful buying talent from other leagues to fill in every spot. Long term it's gotta be about the clubs developing talent.

Got to agree their aswell, I would like to see USA produce some wonderkids soon, with Donovan retiring and the likes of Howard and Dempsey in their twilight of the career now be a good opportunity for some kids of the future to make a name for themselves right now

Also not to go too overboard on the talents at a early age, we all know what happened to the last one the USA hailed as the messiah lol he playing in Finland last time I believe (Adu) and the likes of Altidore and Shea didn't really set the world a light in Europe unfortunately

Yep all It's missing is REAL competition. It needs (desperately) to move from a franchise system to a PRO/REL system.
there are teams (arguably) further down the ladder who are not only better than a lot of the current MLS teams, but better supported and in my opinion better run you need to reward success not mediocrity
