NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Yeah to support the midfield, but we don't necessarily need them making runs into the box, right? Angelino spent more time on the offensive side of the field than our own half.
Fair. I still think that Angelino was a poor fit for us but will end up being a special player. We didn't (and don't yet) have the personnel to play the style we were forcing him to play.

Just Ben Arfa doing Ben Arfa thangs

Both would leave us with just one international spot, so I'm nervous it's one or the other to save spots for EDS loanees. I much prefer Teixiera to Matarrita. That said, I suppose I much prefer Matarrita to a second EDS loanee. Get it done, Reyna.

Do loans count as international spots though?

For what it's worth, I'm cool with just taking one EDS anyway.

Matarrita would guaranty some stability along the back line. EDS is a 1-off each season, so the plan should always be to use EDS to fill gaps.

I agree. Nothing against Facey or Angelino, but I prefer stability along the back line. It can't be healthy changing our back four year in and year out. I would much rather get a exciting EDS striker or winger on our squad.

Get both Teixiera and Matarrita on the team and any other signings are a plus. We will have formed a core Back Four, brought in a better 4th CB (White) which is important considering Kwame was played multiple times last year, and got the dynamic & creative young winger in Harrison that we coveted. We know there are more moves to make, but this has been a very productive off-season for Reyna - there have been no real whiffs.

I know we're all getting ahead of ourselves, but if we do end up securing both, I'm curious to see how the FO will round out our roster with domestic players (assuming they leave one international spot open for EDS or loanee from Europe). It's safe to assume that we'll get an American GK as either our 2nd or 3rd option. My hope is that we utilize our scouts and sign a young promising player from the USL/NASL (a la Poku) for one of our vacant spots. I honestly don't follow those leagues so I don't know who's out there.

I really hope our back line meshes better this year than last year but I'm still very nervous we will be like a leaky ship. By the end of the season I bet the line will be very strong together but at the beginning of the season when we need to pick up a lot of points those guys will still be learning how to play together. Yes I'm way excited about these picks! But we need to stay realistic. On the plus side with a better back line in front of him, I see Saunders being even better than last year with his saves and won't have to make those crazy kicks to the other team all the time.
