Preseason - All Matches

From NYCFCNation:

"NYCFC have one last pre-season game remaining: a 7:30 game against Reykjavik FC of Iceland. That game is expected to see NYCFC field its true starting lineup for the regular season. Frank Lampard is not expected to start, however he is anticapted to be fit for the season opener against Chicago on March 6th. Jack Harrison and Jefferson Mena will be out much longer than initially anticpated with the pair not expected to feature until the third game at the earliest."

MLS keeps contract information secretive and also injuries for that matter. It took a Facebook post from RJ to know that he's injury and it's a serious one. We know nothing about the status of Mena or Lampard and the last thing we learned about Harrison was that it was more of an issue than expected.

I was told originally that Mena was out for 2 weeks, that was... 2 weeks ago. Last I heard it's 3-4... so yeah. MLS isn't great with injury reports. Suspected Allen was out since we hadn't seen him. I personally don't expect to see Harrison or Brandt until April. Maybe we'll see Mena before then.

Any inside info on what the Lampard story is? I can't imagine it is just a matter of him not getting into game shape over a 4 month off-season, and suspect there has to be or was an injury of some sort (whether new or aggravation).

Knock picked up in training, remember he played in that game against FGCU. They wanted to give him time to recover to avoid having a repeat of last season where he tried to come back right away and went right back out with an injury.

For anyone here who watches the NHL, this shit is like Carey Price's injury except it's everytime one of our players gets injured.

Any word on why Mix was out last game? Whenever a guy doesn't get at least a few minutes, I start to think the worst.

Could've sworn they brought in a new physio team this year but I'm starting to have flashbacks to last season.

Thinking that Lampard will sit out Saturday to be 100% for Chicago, I think we'll see a 4-3-3 lineup like this:

-------Taylor-----Villa-----Shelton-------
---------------Poku---Pirlo----------------
---------------------Mix--------------------
---Matarrita--White--Brillant--Iraola--
---------JOHANSEN PLEASE!-----------

I agree with one exception: I think TMac starts over Poku. Not saying it's what I want but based on what we have seen so far it seems more probable. Outlier would be Bravo over either of them if he's meshing well with the team and PV want's some extra defense.

I would love to see Bravo play where Mix is just to see how well he can handel CDM with Pirlo more up

Yup, I think that is the lineup there with the only question mark in my mind being that other midfielder. Could be TMac, Poku, Bravo, or even Lopez IMO.

Did you forget that Frank is supposed to be ready for the opener? Now, that could be the Season opener or the Home opener, but why split hairs?

If Frank is ready to start I think the question is settled. But if he can't go or if he's just coming back from an injury and needs to play as a sub I agree with SoupInNYC SoupInNYC that the 3rd midfield spot is still up in the air.

I'm going with for the preseason game tomorrow. Agree that Frank takes the spot if we consider him fully fit.
