Will this effect us? (Yankees Ticketing issue)

If you don't mind me asking are you a STH or do you have single game tickets for Sunday? I ask because the team sold and emailed me 2 ticket back in the beginning of February with the instructions to print them out.

Single game. I haven't quite wanted to bite on season even though I went to 9 games last year. From where I am in Connecticut it is more less an 8 hour all day commitment when you add up game and travel time (combined car and train) I did figure out how to bring up the QR code on my phone so I should get in at least. Silly as it might seem I did save all my printed tickets from last year in a folder as souvenirs. I found them to be a good thing to remember all the matches I've been to especially since they didn't make individual game programs.

Hey, not sure where you're running into an issue but yesterday I printed single tickets that I purchased for the home opener. Logged into Account Manager, clicked 'Print At Home', ticked the box for the seats and printed.

Thanks for the reply. Other than the Connecticut part, we're pretty much in the same boat. For any number of reasons I don't want the ST's either and I've kept all my print out tickets too for the same reason.

I'm not going to sweat it, because I'm sure we're going to get in one way or another. On the other hand this is the biggest load of horse shit imaginable. They've been having trouble with Ticketmaster for almost 2 months now and as mgarbowski said, they really need to sort it out.

Another odd new thing - I just printed out tickets for the opener and there is new text saying "MUST ENTER THROUGH GATES 2 OR 8 ONLY". Seats are in 233B so I assume this changes depending on where you are seated.

Now, I get why they would do this, they want people to spread out. But this is a pretty crude and off-putting way of doing it. If someone shows up an hour early and wants to visit the main store or the Field MVP lounge or NYY steak or whatever they should be able to enter at the nearest gate regardless of where their ticket is. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but this is so dumb that I assume they won't actually enforce this.

Agreed. If you test this, please report back.

I just checked because of this and it still 100 percent is not giving me an option to print. Just batshit that some people can not and are being told by tickemaster it's not allowed and others seem to still be able to?

Goodfella and I printed through the nycfc.com account manager, which is working for the first game. It sounds like you are printing through Ticketmaster's website.

Damn, this is getting all kinds of confusing.

Davo, do you have an account over on the NYCFC official web page? Whether or not you do, go on over and try this.
  • Click on the menu to get yourself to the TICKETS page.
  • Scroll all the way down and on the left hand side you'll see MY ACCOUNT MANAGER.
  • Click and it should direct you to a log in page.
  • If you have an account, log in then hit the MANAGE THIS EVENT. That should take you to the next page where you'll find the print option.
  • If you don't have an account, create one and see where it takes you.
Good luck. And yes this is absolutely absurd.

Latest update (via phone) is that they are "working with Ticketmaster on a new .pdf template" and .pdf tickets for next Friday's game will be available "If not today, Monday".

Problem is, I cant make the Orlando game, sold the tickets on Stubhub, now can't be sure if I can deliver by the deadline, which is today.

This is nonsense. I'm really upset with them putting limits and conditions on how I handle tickets I paid for!

I was able to print out my ticket for Sunday, but it took forever. (I've been trying for weeks)

And I still can't "manage" some of the games later in the year

That's consistent with what I was told, and more specific as to timing. Hopefully it comes to be, maybe even in time for your deadline.
Then they just need to get the messaging straight, especially at Ticketmaster.

If you have the monthly payment plan, you can't manage tickets you haven't paid for yet.

Last year you could only manage tickets starting 2 weeks before each game, even if you paid in advance. Once we get past the current glitches, I expect that will be the rule this year for print and transfer. It appears they have relaxed the 2 week limit for selling on the exchange, subject to the limitation Lasker noted about payment plans.

Thanks anyone who suggested going straight though the NYCFC site. I'll look into it. Ticket Master is adamant that the Venue (Yankee Stadium) will not allow printed tickets. I got another email from them today reiterating this point. I'd be mindful anyone who has a printed ticket to make sure you have mobile or something as a back up. I'm picturing potential arguments with staff at the entrance gates. What an Effing Night mare.

First, I don't feel like you're picking on me. I just don't agree with what you're saying, and oviously you don't agree with what I'm saying. It's a fair discussion.

Of course they make money off of ticket sales but they make more off of concessions and merchandise bought during the game. While the upper echelon of tickets generates a lot of revenue, the majority of the seats in a stadium are priced below the median price of a ticket. The people sitting in these seats will typically spend as much (or more) in soft costs (food/merch) as they do on the actual ticket, and some will spend a tremendous amount more.

Sorry for the late reply, but you can't disagree with actual numbers. If they make more than half of their revenue from ticket sales that means less than half of their revenue is from concessions and merchandise. Which means they make more money from ticket sales. And that other "less than half" also includes all broadcasting and sponsorship revenue.

So they most certainly do not make more money from concessions and merchandise than they do from ticket sales. They make much less. Not an opinion and not something we can agree to disagree on.
