2017 Relocation Thread

Here is a cut and paste from the email. This omits the opening and closing part where I emphasize I'm not angry or looking for an accommodation, but just trying to give helpful feedback. Even with that I think, on re-reading it just now, that this comes off as more angry and negative than I intended just as a function of listing a half-dozen negative issues. I might email him again to reassure that I really am not angry, just disappointed with the seats and planning to move. With that extended disclaimer:
  • They are priced at a premium. I say this understanding they are not premium seats per se, but they are the most expensive non-club seats, There are only 5 other sections at this price level and the others are all field level.
  • Yet the view is basically the same as the first few rows of 227-230, which are priced much lower.
  • I knew going in these seats had no protection for sun or rain. But they are in fact hideous sun seats for afternoon games, and we have a lot of those because of the Yankees. The sun is straight ahead in your face all game.
  • They are impossible to sell, mostly because nobody knows where the hell the Batter's Eye is (including some stadium staff BTW) or can understand why they cost so much.
  • Stadium maps make this worse as they make it seem like the BE is level with (or even higher than) the top of the Upper Deck.
  • The official ticket exchange cannot even show BE tickets on their map at all. That is ridiculously unprofessional and inexcusable for the official provider. I can't believe they haven't figured this out yet.
  • As I learned at the Colorado game, the drainage in the front row is poor and my seats had a puddle an inch deep. It wasn't even that bad of a rain to cause that much pooling. Fortunately there was almost nobody there so I could sit in the second row, where the water was able to "drain" down to the first row.
  • No cup holders in the front row. Mind boggling. My daughter and I have each lost at least one drink so far this year when people knocked them over on the floor. At best it is disappointing and at worst a disgusting mess. See no drainage above. It is also simply inconvenient to keep reaching down.
  • Can only buy one beer at a time due to proximity of bleachers. This actually has not affected me, but it could someday and definitely annoys my friends. A husband and wife, for example, who both want a beer and both have to go stand in line.
Bottom line is they are not worth the cost. Maybe could be Tier 3 at most I think. Definitely not Tier 1.

I haven't sat there, just stood behind and wished I was sitting there, but I think the view from Batters Eye is much better than the view from even the front rows of 228. But I'm sure you're right about everything else - they seem very overpriced and I definitely don't envy the position relative to he sun. And unless you've got money to burn or go to every game, the lousy resale is a killer.

Gonna need people to start including the seating category in addition to section and row :D
I was actually thinking of that as I made my Section 224 post (yellow, category 4, by the way). The good thing about 224 is that it's the closest to the center line without being in a higher price category. I also chose that one because the majority of the time there's nobody behind you in those "roped off" standing sections so you don't get yelled at for standing up and jumping up and down like a nut.

I love the company in the Batters Eye, but I don't much care for the section overall. In fact I just sent my rep an email over the weekend indicating I plan to relocate and explaining why I think they need to raise the value of what you get with those seats or lower the price. The Eye is usually at least half-empty so I'm surprised to see they are keeping them in the same tier, although obviously my email was too late to have any effect.
I haven't discussed this with my seat neighbors as it's a very recent decision, but based on prior comments I expect some of them might be planning on moving as well. Have not decided where to move and will possibly be a relocation day decision.

You can always come home to section 229

I think that the 227A/B and sec 228 might be the best seats in the house. I'm in 229 row 8 seats 1-4
We have this beer guy that sells Stella. Guy must work as a voice over guy during the day. Best beer voice ever . guys about 60+. anyone else know this guy?

I just relocated, effective immediately. I noticed that next year the increase in Tier 1 is greater than the increase in Delta Club, which cut the delta between them for 2 tickets by about a hundred bucks compared to this year. Add in an offset for the free parking that I'm currently paying for and the jump to Delta next year is just $255 $340. Then I realized I could upgrade effective immediately for not that much more either and the deed is done. My new ticket cards will be at will call on Saturday.

I know R roxfontaine has Delta tickets but is rarely there due to his TR duties, and TabascoDiva is in Delta as well. Anybody else I should look for?

Did you discuss this with Midas Mulligan first or you're waiting to hear him grumble from across the field about losing seat mates?

I'll see you there Saturday, as I upgraded my seats for that match. I upgraded 3X this year via Cityzen points and really enjoy it there. Go early, have a really good burger or sushi and mingle. I go there when I really want to watch the game and not be distracted by shenanigans in my section.

Midas has been silent here for a few days since before I brought this up, and I did not reach out to him privately. I haven't seen him in person since the Red Bull home win on July 3, since he came to the Colorado game but sat elsewhere.

How does it work, do they assign you specific seats or do you choose when you get there?

when you upgrade, what becomes of your original seats? does the club take them back and resell them? I saw someone was listing their tickets because they upgraded. does that mean if i upgrade i'd have 4 tickets rather then 2? 2 in delta club and 2 in my section?

Yes, you keep your original seats and you also get new tickets for Delta.

original tix are yours to do with what you wish, sell, give away, etc

Consolidated and sorted by category. I can set up a google doc or similar if people find it helfpul.
