Would be interesting to see Shelton partnered with Villa as a hold up player.

Does anyone know if Villa has shown an ability in his career to run the channels? I know Harrison has shown he can EXCEL at it.

Or, in the case of the prospect of Lopez starting in a match where we need goals, indigestion might be the more operative word. I cut the manager more slack than just about anyone. I wrote a long post a week or two ago talking about why that is so and actually agreed with the tactics this past week.

But, if Lopez is in the 11 on Sunday, even my "company man" tendencies are going to be stressed to the limit. That said, I wouldn't have expected Vieira to say anything different, so I don't really put much stock in the fact that he said it.

I'd try to go all out, get a quick goal and start to pull TFC out of their inevitable shell:

------Villa------Shelton
-Mata---Lamps---Harrison
----Pirlo---------Iraola
--Mena-Chanot-Brillant
----------Lurch

You'd have Mendoza and Mac if you need offense, RJ and Bravo if you need defense.
The M&M formation

If that pic of Pirlo playing ping-pong is from today, then his calf injury is subterfuge. There is no way a person can play ping pong on a gimpy calf unless they stand still and don't rotate their trunk (which is impossible reaching for the ball) - any movement engages the calf muscles.

"He said Mikey Lopez played well in midfield in the First Leg but stressed that he has not decided on a starting eleven."

Oh god.

He also said he had to make a decision on the GK before the playoff game..... all coach-speak.... everybody knew (or should have known if they weren't stubborn) that Lurch was going to start the playoffs. There is no way that Mikey is starting the game for us on Sunday unless we have about 10 pregame scratches due to injuries. We need to score multiple goals, not kick shins, and Mikey has zero goals & 1 assist on the year. He's not touching the field unless we are trying to kill off the game in the last 10 minutes.

In the video Mix posted on Instagram Pirlo's feet were both planted in place the entire time (which was like 8 seconds). He certainly was not lunging around or moving quickly. In fact, as I said, in the video he didn't move his feet at all.

Mix had it on his instagram story today.

Edit: just read the rest of the thread...

"David Villa took set pieces for Pirlo last Sunday and it is likely that he would do so again if Pirlo cannot play."

On the bright side our chance of scoring from a free kick around the box just went way up.

ETA: all jokes aside, lets not rule out the chance that this is a giant bluff to force Toronto to prepare to face two very different teams, one with Pirlo and one without him.

If World Series Game 7's emotions will be like our game Sunday, I'm very glad I'm sit near where the EMS and stretcher team is located.
