Anyone listen to the Dummy/Howler podcast episode with Clint Irwin recently? It's a recent interview, but then George Qurashi bounces back to another Irwin interview he recorded a few years ago for a spin-off series that ended up getting scrapped. Anyway, after Irwin talks about bouncing around lower leagues before he made it to MLS, he speaks about how he found out he was being traded from Colorado from TFC. He was called in by mgmt right after New Years, which he said felt irregular. And during the time the trade was being explained -- they never even told him where he was going until he asked -- it became public on twitter. So when he got out of the meeting, the rest of the team already knew and he had hundreds of texts/missed calls. Kind of an interesting window into how these matters are handled and what it's like to receive the news.

It's the Dec 8 episode available here: https://whatahowler.com/dummy-podcast-5dc6ef53b298#.2idgbq4rg

I think with the lower picks this year and ensuing trades that are happening, I have a feeling MLS will do away with the expansion draft after LAFC's draft.

There are just way too many means to acquire players in this league that the expansion draft is used as "assets" now and less as a means to acquire players.

They discussed just giving them more allocation money and intl spots and letting them use them as assets. Seems better than another embarrassing draft.
