White out 4 weeks. Lopez out 3-4 weeks.

Better then expected for White. What are the chances Lopez got hurt on the tackle from Kemar Lawrence and just played through it?

Could be wrong but wasn't Mata's a contact injury too?

The second one was at RBA, I think. Can't remember if the original injury was on contact.

Also, it is possible the Lopez injury was due to contact. He has a mid foot sprain -- and he took a nasty tackle against RB that nobody here noticed or complained about but which Simon Borg highlighted on Instant Replay. Not sure if that caused the injury.

I was screaming that Lawrence's challenge on Lopez should be a red card.

Lawrence was also responsible for a red card challenge on Matarrita in the 90+2' at RBA when NYCFC was up 2-0.

I dunno. The gastrocnemius injury that White has sounds similar to what Lampard had, which dragged on for a really long time. I remember reading at the time that it was a trouble some injury that tended to afflict older players, so maybe it's different for Ethan, but I'm generally not an optimistic person when it comes to injuries ;) Rather, I'm starting to get to the age of being chronically injured.

I don't know what White has, but if he really did hear a 'pop' which is what the trainer told PV, then it isn't good. Likely either a muscle tear within itself or a tearing of the muscle away from the bone. In my mind I've already ruled him out for the year, so if he's back in 4 weeks it'll be an unexpected surprise.

So here's my shot at an attempted lineup/bench.

Right now we'd have 2 keepers and an empty spot on the bench unless someone flies back early/flies out IMMEDIATELY following their match or we sign someone.

I would avoid the Pirlo/Tmac pairing without a CDM like the plague. Since Awuah seems unplayable I would rather throw in Sands for TMac. Maybe something resembling a 4-4-2 with Okoli and Lewis up top, Maxi on the left as LM, Jack on the right as RM, and Sands/Pirlo centrally. That way you have 4 guys with good feet in midfield, and 3 of them can run, too. Unlike TMac. Protect Pirlo at all costs and see if he can still dictate play. Otherwise, I am afraid the midfield would get overrun, and what good would it be to have 3 nominal forwards then?

Does MLS still have pool players, other than Keepers? I have not seen it recently, but i'm wondering if the league still has any mechanism to bring in depth players in an emergency.

Having the same conversation here http://nycfcforums.com/index.php?threads/home-09-06-skc.5786/

figured no reason to talk about the same thing in 2 different threads.

Ring's 1st game is in Finland on 9/2. As they are mathematically eliminated, after playing at home, he may fly back and miss the second match vs.

Villa's 1st game is in Spain vs. Italy on 9/2. They, however, are competing for the top group place and automatic qualification. The second game is at Liechtenstein, an easier opponent, though Villa may show more there in terms of minutes.

Herrera's 1st game is in Venezuela vs. Colombia on 8/31. They are already mathematically eliminated and would play at Argentina next on 9/5.

Wallace isn't going anywhere.

Not to my knowledge, IIRC there's only like 2 pool keepers and they're probably getting rid of those too.

Extreme Hardship Call-ups
Clubs may add players to their roster in cases of "Extreme Hardship." Extreme Hardship exists when an MLS club has:

  • fewer than four available outfield substitutes (less than 14 outfield players available)
  • OR has fewer than two goalkeepers available.

We only have three outfield substitutes. I'm looking into the rules now. Wondering how expensive of a person we can call up.
