NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Makes you think what happened to him? Hasn't been the same player since he got married
Technically, he's just engaged. I kind of blame it on his transfer to Bayern, didn't ever settle or show what potential he may have had by going to them. Could've also been all the insane hype surrounding his WC Final winning goal, people think he's going to be the next Messi ended up just setting the bar too high for him.

Kenwyne Jones' contract option was declined. Worth a shot?

Also...He retired.

Here’s the first part of my possible DP scouting report. You can take treat it like you would a report in FIFA 18 if you’d like but I’m gonna share it anyways.

Don’t ask me when the second part is coming, I have a long list of midfielders with limited hours to watch soccer games. I’m hoping to get that done in the next week or two.

My most reasonable DP choice:

Arjen Robben - he embodies a 4-3-3 system and has said he wants to play in MLS.

My most unlikely:

Kasper Dolberg - he’s a name you’ll hear a lot over the next decade.

Kaspet Dolberg has a 14M Euro transfermarket value. For a transfer fee, that would be the largest in MLS history.

No, please. Not his attitude or anything. He’s just lampard on the wing at this point. Not reliable for real minutes.

I have to say, if I were picking from your list, admittedly not having seen all of them, Brahimi and Correa are my two picks. I like both players, with Correa being my favored choice, but also the less likely of the two.

Frankly, I think enough of Correa I’d be fine with him at Liverpool. I think he has the Firmino type play style that I am clamoring for in our next DP.

If you could get him, you could make him the centerpiece of your team for 10 years. Or you could sell him back to a European club. He’s a high, high quality player.

Other similar choices: Wissam Ben Yedder probably doesn’t have a long term future with France. He fits a similar mold positionally as Firmino, if a bit less hard working and physical. He’s not a regularly favored starter at Sevilla, and I think he would be a better version of the Giovinco-like choice (ie, he’s better than Atomic Ant).

Great article, Chris. Will read again when I’ve had less scotch.

My articles are best read with a peaty scotch.

Hmm, did he say we were competing for him though? Or is this post relevant because it clears the way for the departure of another powerful, box-to-box midfielder with German international experience...?

I'll definitely trade a Can to improve both clubs I support. Goretzka is a step up for sure, and your implied move would be great.
