MLS - April 24 - Toronto (Home)

Well, it looks like our team is blessed with an outlandishly ridiculous attack.
If we can bring our defense up to a similar standard we will be absolutely unstoppable.
Ronny wants 5-4. Ronny gets 5-4
Johnson was horrendous. Game should have been 5-1 at worst. He faced 5 shots - none of them particularly high probability - and made just 1 save. If he was half as good as Bono he has a shutout. At one point our defense went 50 minutes during which Toronto managed zero shots. I don't think I've ever seen Johnson have a worse game, and our defense was solid.

I thought we were pretty good defensively until the late subs, especially considering who we were missing. Ronny may need to rethink using Gloster again, though. He was a wreck the last 10 minutes.

I don't think he's been at his best at all this year, at any point. Not really sure what's going on. Could be just the years catching up a little.

He's been mixed this year. Last year he started very poorly then had a strong second half and even better playoffs. He's capable of greatness but also highly variable.
And to your previous post, I agree we got sloppy at the end.

Good game. Our attack is great to watch. Bono was making great saves and we still put 5 in. Proud of the mentality to come back as well.

Defense was mostly ok. First goal, seemed like we didn't follow runners or weren't truly sure who was covering who. Last 2 we just shut off. It was way too easy. Hope Heber is ok.

All in all, good performance. But should have been more like 5-1 if we were sharper for 90 mins. Agree Johnson wasn't fully awake or as alive as he usually is.

Rony loves Gloster. He thinks he’s exceptionally talented.

I'm sure he's right. But from what I've seen of Gloster so far his quality hasn't risen to the level his talent would suggest. He's kind of the opposite of Tayvon Gray, who seems to get everything out of himself.

Gloster is still only 21, though. He could easily, and very suddenly, get it together. But he absolutely has to keep his head about him more consistently.

Anyone with a differing view of the Morales second yellow card? Didn’t even look like a foul to me.
it was a bs yellow from my point of view. it wasn't a tactical foul and it wasn't endangering the opponent's safety. not every foul is a yellow and in this case, i didn't even think it was a foul. i saw 2 guys fighting for the ball and they were both wrestling each other equal amounts. ref got that wrong imo.

Just got home. My humble opinion is that we should play all our matches at Citi Field until we get a stadium of our own. Probably our largest crowd in years, and the place was rocking for the whole match.

In other news, paging mgarbowski mgarbowski as I just couldn't bring myself to spend maybe $35 on a Polar Burger, fries, and a soda. Just couldn't do it. Shake Shake instead, for the discount price of around $20.

I agree. And near us there were a LOT of people saying they were from nearby in flushing meadow or similar places. I think the different location attracted different audience, as we've all speculated.

What this also tells me is that splitting between Citi and YS will actually be excellent in the long-run because it'll expose a lot more residents to our team...

As much as I hate to say it, Something about Citifield felt better than YS today. It’s significantly farther from me than YS and I’d rather a stadium be built in the Bronx but if it gives the team better support… guess I’ll have to move.
