On the subject of Chanot, we have to realize he had maybe a day and a half in training and is already looking like one of our most confident "backline anchor" types already if not the most competent defender overall as well. IMHO This guy could lead us to an MLS cup (if only we had a showstopping keeper behind him).

P.S. Does anyone know what his pass completion percentage was? I don't think I saw him make an errant pass all game.

I think Tony Larson tweeted it as being around 96%

It sucked. It was only 96% (27/28).

I saw Mena holding onto his hamstring during the first half at some points. With that halftime sub for Chanot, don't be surprised if he's listed as questionable or something for next match. Though the injury report is some days away.

I think Mena is about to be Wally Pipped.

Worked all day so I recorded the game. I got home and hadn't looked anything up. Didn't want to watch it for the fear of the number 1 Rapids. All day I thought about all the anger that was gonna be on this thread of the forum. My recording didn't catch the last 10ish minutes of the game due to the rain delay but that is 100% okay with me cause I didn't see us give up a goal in the dying seconds of the match. But most of all I'm happy to see this forum happy and thrilled by the win for atleast the next 2 maybe 3 days.

I know it's hard to make a definitive statement on Chanot after 1/2 a game, up 2-0 and a man up...but you can tell he's gonna be a solid addition. We have a pretty good core group in the back 4 now when healthy. It's going to be interesting to see how PV plays it. I'm thinking it's the French Connection back there with Jason & Mena backing up. We actually have capable back ups & depth now. Our weakest link defensively is Saunders. I'm ok with TT being Villa's back up, he's better than Mullins was. I also like Mendoza coming off the bench. His energy and speed when the opponents stamina is lacking is a big weapon. We do well against direct play teams. If PV can sort his tactics out for when we play a possession based team or a pressing team, we can actually do some real damage in the playoffs.

Good solid win. I know we were up a guy & CO look liked they gave up....but a lot of positive things to take away from this game. A good team gets a good win after a crappy loss. We've done that a few times lately. Last year we'd go into a tailspin and Jason would try to reinvent the wheel.

Not sure how well-informed the fans at the stadium were, but the match was stopped because of lightning in the area, not because of the rain. Once the lightning cleared, game was back on.
Not sure if the rest of the world does that, most of Europe is off during the typical thunderstorm season. MLS started doing this over the last couple years I think. A fan was actually killed in Columbus a couple years ago, albeit in the parking lot, from a lightning strike.

I actually saw the flash in the sky. It was just as the players were running back into place after I❤️Lamp's first goal. It wasn't much, and there was no thunder, but I knew we might not restart. Most leagues stop play for lightning. There are rules about how close the lightning can be and how long you have to wait before the last strike. There was a Florida game a few years back that was called around midnight because the storms never cleared the area. They only got the opening kickoff in (returned for a TD).

Saunders can take a team to the MLS Cup.
