Exactly how does this deal work? Can the Red Bulls recall him whenever the want or do we have some sort of protection against that?

For example let's say he's been our starter all year and towards the end of the season a huge game comes up (pick any number of circumstances for it being an important match that a loss by NYCFC benefits the Red Bulls) can NYRB pull a dick move and recall him off our roster?

I would assume we would have some sort of protection against NYRB doing that or else I am really unsure about the move.

Sounds like both players can't play against the others parent club.

Just waiting for that Yank Abroad announcement. Reyna said today he expects up to 7 more players by Jan 24th.

Based on the WSJ article and Reyna's comments, this is what they are looking at to fill out the roster moving forward:

GK:
Josh Saunders
Ryan Meara
GK 3

D:
Jeb Brovsky
Kwame Watson-Siriboe
Josh Williams
Jason Hernandez
John George
Chris Wingert
D 7
D 8

MF:
Andrew Jacobson
Matthew Dunn
Frank Lampard
Ned Grabavoy
Thomas McNamara
Mehdi Ballouchy
MF 7
MF 8
MF 9
MF 10

F:
David Villa
Patrick Mullins
Tony Taylor
F 4
F 5
F 6

SO! Looks like we need another Goalkeepers by camp, another two defenders 4 midfielders and 3 more Forwards.

For those of you who know the MCFC U-21 team, is there a GK over there? Is there a MF over there you like? And beyond Donyoh and Iheanacho, is there a Forward you like?

With the Super Draft, the top names are F Cyle Larin, MF Cristian Roldan, MF Leo Stolz, D Michael Amick, D Joshua Yaro.

GK .... Angus Gunn ..... Son of former professional Goalkeeper (& Scottish international)
DF .... Shay Facey... Has represented England at every youth level, and is now ready for a step up, but has too many in front of him at City
MF.... Albert Rusnak.. was Slovakian U 18 captain, now U 21 player
FW.... Devante Cole.... Son of Ex England player Andy Cole.... I do not think I have ever seen a player with his pace and work rate.... even at First team level !!! I watched this guy on his loan debut for Barnsley at Coventry he came on as Sub and changed the game.

The above players are ones that I hope one day will grace the field for MCFC, not just any old Elite Development Squad Players, while they develop to fisrst team squad level, I would like to see them stay "in the group" ....

If you do end up taking these players on loan from MCFC.... look after them .... please !

Angus Gunn seems pointless, particularly if NYCFC are after Meara, as that would make Gunn 2nd or (most likely) 3rd choice. City wouldn't let a promising youngster go 3000 miles to sit on the bench and train on much less impressive training facilities and with no youth team for him to compete in.

Facey's a possibility, he will probably never make it at City, but he's a young lad from Manchester, he's a big 6ft plus centre-back, strong in the challenge and good on the ball.

Albert Rusnak won't happen. He is currently scheduled to stay on loan at Cambuur until January, when he's highly to make a move permanently.

Devante Cole is possible, he has been very good for Barnsley and I'm sure they would want to keep him for as llong as possible. His loan expires in January which is just in time for NYC. He is very Welbeck-esque; tall, stong very fast, but lacks decision making sometimes.

For me, the more likely options are:

Mathias Bossaerts - CB/RB - 18 - Solid, defensively sound centre-back, who can play right-back due to his pace and adventure. He played a couple of times for the City first team in pre-season and looked reasonably comfortable. Not a player that I think will make it at City, but he's highly rated by the club. I think he would do well in MLS though. Video.

Kean Bryan - DM - 18 - Tough tackling midfielder, been at City since he was a kid. Born and raised in Manchester. He's the captain of Vieira's EDS (reserves) side, he is comfortable on the ball and very good at breaking up play. Nothing flash, just does his job quietly and efficiently. Video: 9 minute mini-documentary.

Brandon Barker - RW/LW - 18 - Probably the biggest talent of these 6. Many City fans have called for him to join the first team squad. He is fast, skilfull and gets a very good amount of goals from wide positions. He has been the EDS's star player this season (particularly in the u19's Champions League), after all of the biggest young names left on loan (Rekik, Denayer, Cole, Lopes, Fofana). Video 1, video 2, video 3.

Bersant Celina - AM/ST - 18 - Another great talent, who has been on very good form recently in the EDS, in a new lone centre forward role, playing there in the absence of Jose Pozo who was promoted to the first team squad. He recently came off the bench to score twice vs Bayern Munich under 19s. He's a great finisher but also a great passer in midfield. Not to mention he's a free-kick specialist and a full Kosovan international. Video 1, video 2, video 3.

Jordi Hiwula - ST - 18 - A pure goalscorer, a poacher. Born and raised in Manchester, Hiwula has bags of potential and can score all types of goals. He's good in the air, good 1 on 1, and has decent strike from distance. He seems to be the top goalscorer at every youth level when he plays. Video 1, video 2, video 3.

Godsway Donyoh - ST/RW - 20 - He's been heavily linked with NYCFC already. I can't say I've seen him play much, but he seems to have a turn of pace and a good strike. Not dissimilar to Zardes at LAG. Video 1, video 2.

All of your choices are very good possibilities but I think some will be "second wave"

Gunn... I was answering the OP who asked about our options, I agree with your synopsis, though I do not know much about Meara

Facey... As I said has too much in front of him currently, and needs a year of good level football, I think MLS is ideal for him at this stage of his career

Rusnak, you are probably right.... he is a good player though, and is ready for a run at a good level after various loans, I hope we give this kid a chance

Devante Cole.... see previous (I like him) Though Donyoh is also brilliant, I think the 18 year olds will get one more year EDS, then earn the MLS loan..... though like you I am speculating

EDIT, wrong puctuation on Donyoh..... he is a possible ..... other players mentioned (18 year olds) may get 1 more year then MLS loan (sorry)

I am also a big Devante Cole fan, but I don't see New York as a likely destination for him, as I think City will be looking at Championship or even Premier League loans now.

I also didn't discount Facey, I just think we'd be more inclined to sell him than loan him out.

I didn't say these 2 were impossible/highly unlikely, I think there are several City players that could be taken here on loan, in addition to the ones we've previously mentioned: Greg Leigh, Pablo Maffeo, George Evans, James Horsfield, Oliver Ntcham, Jack Byrne, Sinan Bytyqi, Thierry Ambrose, even Kelechi Iheanacho if he doesn't get his UK work permit.

Ref Cole....
@Falastur tells me (a while ago) that the MLS is championship level.

I am new to the MLS and have to admit, I thought it was a little lower that that but taking Falastur at his word as I am sure he knows more than I then Cole will be playing at Championship level, and MCFC will be supporting its Brother / Sister .... I have a feeling about Cole....

I believe that the goal of MLS is to be a top 5 destination league within 10 years. Part of that is the CBA. I think that when MLS starts paying the mid-level players a lot more.

Exactly where the battle will be. Everyone talks about the DP's but the union isn't going to fight for 10 guys. They're going to fight for the 200 middle paid guys who really drive the level of play.

why I the CBA proposal tread I put in a cap and floor one thing I should have added is free agency

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ier-League-wages-FIVE-times-Championship.html

Our Championship are on approx £4k ($326 000) per year (average)

I understand the MLS is around $100 K per year for the average non DP, so you will need a three fold increase to get you to current Championship levels.
Do you think this is achievable, will the clubs get the crowds or sponsorship to enable the extra spend
Actually the average to lower end $50,000 a year. But I started a tread about the CBA and what the player and the league would want in the MLS section why don't we continue this conversation there.
