Euro 2020 starts today! After being postponed due to the pandemic, they decided to keep the "2020" in the name, even though it's occurring in 2021. UEFA is going to UEFA. Groups are below:

Saw Eriksen play for Ajax what is now way too many years ago. Very happy he's alright(ish)

Holland-Ukraine was a very entertaining game.

The Ericksen collapse was eerily similar to that of Keyontae Johnson, a basketball player for Florida, this past December. Moments after making a fast break dunk, Johnson blacked out and fell face forward on the court. Fortunately, a cardiologist was sitting courtside, and she helped stabilize him. He spent a few days in a medically induced coma with myocarditis - a viral inflammation of the heart muscle.

He ended up rejoining the team, but was not medically cleared to play. He stayed on the bench, acting very much like an extra coach. He has announced that he hopes to return to the court for Florida next year, but he is still not cleared to play. It's a sad situation, as he's a good kid, who had been picked as pre-season SEC Player of the Year.

Myocarditis can be a side effect of Covid, including well after the initial infection. Somehow they were able to determine that Johnson's problems were not Covid related. It's possible that Eriksen's may be, however.

Hopefully, Eriksen makes a full recovery - it seems like he's off to a good start.

According to Inter personnel, he hasn't had covid nor vaccine so it's likely unrelated

Outside of a handful of moments, France did not impress me as the consensus favorite should.
my take is that france doesnt turn it up unless they have to. i didnt see the game today so not sure if germany even pushed them to try seeing how germany has their own issues.

Germany generally carried the play: more possession, shots and corners, though both sides combined for just 2 shots on target and Germany didn't really do much when on attack. Despite <40% possession, France had the best chances but either missed or was offsides. Their goal was scored for them by Germany, though to be fair it was due to an excellent attacking sequence by France.
